These 'Iron Fist' costars are having fun and don't have to worry about the critics

When celebrities hang out with Bustle writers, we want to give them the chance to make their mark. Literally. So we handed them a pen, a piece of paper, a few questions, and asked them to get creative. The rest is up to them. This time around, Iron Fist stars Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick will be making their mark on the buzzing booth.

Iron Fist Season 2 will premiere on September 7, with Danny Rand and Colleen Wing returning to protect New York City. But when Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick visited the Bustle offices in late August, they were focused on having fun. "Oh my God, why are you so serious in this interview?" Henwick asked Jones as Jones gave thoughtful answers to questions about Danny and Colleen's relationship. "Because I have to be serious! We need to market the show," Jones defended. While Henwick thought it was "boring", the British cast made sure their time in the raucous booth was anything but boring.

Jones and Henwick were introduced to the Marvel Universe in Iron Fist Season 1, which premiered in March 2017. Reaction to The Defenders ' final piece of the puzzle has been mixed, to say the least, but The Defenders and Luke Cage's appearance in season 2 have raised eyebrows about where The Defenders will end. Have a different perspective. Former Game of Thrones actors have more opportunities to showcase their characters. They don't seem to care at all about past feedback when promoting Iron Fist Season 2.

In fact, aside from Henwick's trepidation about turning 26 (her birthday is August 30), they seem pretty carefree. “I don’t know, guys, 25 is good to me,” Henwick said. “Twenty-six is a great year,” Jones, 30, assures her. They also talked about Jones' love of LaCroix seltzer. ("I think it's important to know that Finn needs to be sponsored by La Croix because he drinks a lot of La Croix every day," Henwick interjects.) And they talk about Henwick's makeup, too. (“I love your eyeliner—it’s so sparkly,” Jones says, then adds, Valley Girl-esque, “It’s like your personality.”) Worrying about the reception of Season 2 seems to be the least of their concerns things. After all, why would Henwick and Jones bother when they had just as much fun making Iron Fist ?

“Honestly, our cast had the best time on set,” Jones said. "Like, I would say this is the most fun group in all of The Defenders. We really gel, we really get along, and we have a lot of fun. Everybody who comes on set says that. ”

Henwick and Jones noticed some changes in the people on set during season two. They lost Rosario Dawson, who last played Claire Temple in the second season of Luke Cage . But they got Simon Missick as Misty Knight and Alice. Eve plays the new character Mary Walker. "It was great to have Simone and Alice there, and we felt the love and were able to have fun with it," Jones said.

While Jones noted that Danny and Colleen moved in together in season 2 and their relationship "moved on a bit," he also joked that Colleen might leave him for Misty. "They were lovers," Jones said before addressing Henwick. "Actually, you said that, didn't you? You actually worked hard to make it happen." As fans watched Misty and Colleen's ongoing chemistry in Iron Fist Season 2, They might start "shipping these friends too."

But Henwick noted that Misty was interested in other people on the show. "Something happened to Misty..." Henwick said before Jones could finish, "Oh, Ward." As Jones suggested, Tom Pelphrey's Ward Meacham might be a "Asshole," but Henwick said, "That's the beauty of his character. That's the best part." Misty apparently wasn't intimidated by Ward's mischievous behavior, as they both Flirting with each other when meeting. "How could you not? He's so big," Henwick said, while Jones added that his RAND Enterprises buddy was "so handsome."

"It was so much fun. On set, it was something [Missick and Pelfrey] just started doing," Jones recalled. "The director said, 'Don't do this again!' They said, 'No, this is going to be a thing.'"

"There's a little bit of chemistry between them," Henwick said. Jones added, "You're jealous."

In addition to Misty and Ward's flirtation, Season 2 also has Jessica Stroup's Joy Meacham and Sasha Dhawan's Davos League to contend with. Davos is hell-bent on taking away Danny's Iron Fist powers, but Jones has nothing but positive things to say about the dynamic between the two. He and his Kunlun brothers became enemies. "It's great playing with Sasha because it's not just, 'Ah, good guys versus bad guys.' There's a natural brotherhood there," Jones said.

While the action in Davos was expected, both Jones and Henwick noted that Joy's 180 was harsh. “She’s been mean this season,” Henwick said. Jones noted that despite Danny's compassion, he and Joey had a hard time getting along. "Danny does have a hard time understanding her point of view. Like in Davos, I can relate. I get it," Jones said. "But for Joey, there was a lot of disappointment."

The easy interactions between Jones and Henwick highlight just how well the actors behind Danny and Colleen got along in real life. Jones complimented Henwick's fighting skills as "very impressive," to which she responded, "Oh, shpanks." Colleen's low-key bad temper was undoubtedly what attracted Henwick to Iron Fist . "They didn't feel the need [to explain]," Henwick said. "She's tough and that's it. That's definitely one of the reasons I signed up."

Jones agrees. "I have to say, I love our show because it really represents a lot of really strong, interesting female characters," Jones said. "I think we should do more of this. It just makes the show more interesting."

Jones, on the other hand, points out that Danny is not as controlling as his female counterpart. "Danny is a vulnerable character," Jones said. "We're not used to seeing someone who's vulnerable and a little bit messed up - I think that's unique to men."

Things may have become too serious for Henwick at the bustle stall now. But co-stars agree that even with its dark subject matter, "Iron Fist" is lighter than other Netflix Marvel series. "It doesn't take itself as seriously as other people do," Jones said. "That's the great thing about this season. It's allowing yourself to have some fun, which I think is really important."

As for the future of Iron Fist , Jones noted that he will absolutely continue Danny Rand's story. "I would love to have a third season," Jones said. "I think the show's ending is just begging. The show's ending is like — how could you not have a third season?"

But before that happens, Jones and Henwick have just made the most of season two and their Bustle Booth questionnaire.
