Vacationing somewhere new is a great opportunity to explore and find your own path, stumble upon unique, hidden gems along the way, and see things that others always don't. It’s so exciting to find a place off the beaten track and off the beaten track! Even so, you still need to make time to visit the biggest tourist attractions. After all, they are tourist attractions for a reason! They always feature something epic, whether it's a massive monument, a piece of art, or a beautiful landscape. Tourist attractions may be overcrowded, tired, and cliche, but they are still interesting and worth seeing. In most places, there is more than one area of concern. Researching what’s worth your time can be a little overwhelming, but it’s always helpful to check out what others have said. Plus, sometimes the must-see attractions can be a little surprising. VoucherCloud recently released a list of the best tourist attractions in each country based on TripAdvisor data from 2016, and some of them are not at all what you might imagine.
VoucherCloud.com, a discount coupon and coupon code website, has created this comprehensive map detailing the top-ranked tourist attractions in each country, giving travelers a fun little tool to choose from Where they should go, no matter where they are going. Trust me: this list is a must-see for anyone about to travel.
Some must-see attractions are obvious, like the Great Wall of China, Niagara Falls in Canada, the Colosseum in Italy, and the Taj Mahal in India. These are all very popular destinations and it makes sense that they are at the top of every tourist’s must-see list.
Others were more surprised. One might think that for the UK the highest rated attractions would be Buckingham Palace or Westminster Abbey. No – this is the Harry Potter Studio Tour. Good choice! When it comes to France, you might think that the top attractions are a trip to the Eiffel Tower or a tour of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum – you’d be wrong. The highest ranked “must do” in France is the Musée d’Orsay. Oh, what about in the United States? Central Park ranks number one, which is huge considering how big the country is.
Interestingly, most of the top destinations are natural wonders, proving that what nature has to offer is often better than what humans can create. Of the 197 countries listed, 76 destinations are natural attractions, 54 are historical attractions, 38 are general tourist attractions and 29 are religious attractions.
Certain areas seem to focus more on specific types of attractions. For example, Western Europe is very focused on tourism, while Eastern Europe is more focused on history.
In North and South America and the Caribbean, the most important things are natural wonders.
Asia is home to numerous historical sites and tourist attractions:
If you're having trouble seeing every spot on the map, you can head to VoucherCloud where you can easily zoom in on the map and get a better look. It's fun to mark what you see and add what you want to see to your wish list.
Not only is this list very interesting, but it’s also a very useful tool for planning a trip. This is especially true if you’re traveling to a smaller country that isn’t as widely talked about as Italy or the UK. This is definitely something you'll want to bookmark to continue using in the future.
