How to backpack solo through Berlin on a budget

Even if you consider yourself an independent person, traveling alone can be scary. However, there is no doubt that traveling alone can help you build confidence, gain perspective, and learn to rely on yourself. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that you can do what you want, when you want, without being influenced by other people's conflicting agendas.

New York-based content creator Elena Taber is known for her countless videos covering fashion, beauty, travel, and sustainability, and her YouTube channel has over 500,000 subscribers. She is also a big fan of solo travel. In this episode of Bustle's Seekers series documenting travelers traveling the world (and recording every penny spent), we join Taber on a four-day solo backpacking trip in Berlin.

For anyone unfamiliar, Berlin is a city full of arts and culture, known for being diverse, interesting, and affordable. With incredible food, wild nightlife, and more than 170 museums, this city allows you to truly have nothing to do, making it the perfect singles destination.

“I travel alone from time to time,” Taber said. "It's an incredible way to clear your mind and do whatever it is you want to do. You don't have to be someone else's schedule, and as cheesy as it sounds, it really empowers you."
