This Airbnb is an actual igloo and you can stay there for $122 a night

If you want to experience a true winter wonderland this holiday season, you might want to consider a trip to Finland after the New Year. The Lucky Ranch Saloon in Pelkosenniemi, Finland, has an Airbnb igloo for just $122 a night. So if you can handle the cold and want to take advantage of what may be your only chance to sleep in a real igloo, this might be the place for you.

The igloo is located next to Lake Pyhäjärvi and Pyhä-Luosto National Park and is run by a family who build igloos every winter. The white walls are decorated with LED lights and images of different polar animals. If you're lucky, you may even be able to see the Northern Lights from outside your room. Additionally, each igloo comes with real beds and can sleep up to four people. Accommodation listings on Airbnb say warm sleeping bags are provided, but since you're sleeping in an actual igloo, temperatures can drop below freezing. That’s why we encourage guests to bring as much warm clothing as possible. For those who might want to experience staying in an igloo but can't stand the cold all night long, there is a nearby warm house available for guests.

Airbnb

As you can guess from the location name, Lucky Ranch Saloon is part of a horse ranch. Your igloo can be located in two places - either on a real horse farm or on the edge of a lake 1 km away. Everything else, including supermarkets and restaurants, is located in the ski resort 10 kilometers away. While an igloo obviously has no heat, it's more than just a piece of snow. It has many amenities including hot water, toiletries, free parking, and even free breakfast in the morning. Plus, there's WiFi so you can capture every Instagram-worthy moment in this winter wonderland. But you must leave babies and dogs at home; the igloos are not suitable for children under 2 years old, and pets are not allowed.

Airbnb

With a rating of 4.82 out of 5 stars, the igloo has received very positive reviews, including comments from guests on the friendliness of the hosts, the beauty of the atmosphere, and the uniqueness of the experience. While you can't reserve an igloo room for New Year's (as it's fully booked), you can reserve a room for other dates in January. But if you know without a doubt that you want this experience, you should act quickly. According to the igloo Airbnb page, the listing has been viewed more than 500 times in the last week alone. So if you don't get your hat and gloves ready, someone else might get there first.
