Blackpink's Lisa wears crop top and skirt outfit made from tights trash

It’s not every day that I see someone on a yacht and applaud them for calling attention to sustainability, but today was one of those days. Blackpink's Lisa just showed off an eco-friendly look to her over 103 million Instagram followers. She posted photos from her Formula 1 "Monaco pit stop," highlighting a new crop top and skirt made from trash.

The annual Monaco Grand Prix always attracts star-studded crowds, and Lisa was part of the craze this year. Her photos show some of her highlights, including a photo with Red Bull Racing's three-time World Drivers' Championship winner Max Verstappen and a clash with J. Balvin at an exclusive post-race party. Lisa showed off her eye-catching outfit at the after-party.

Lisa's sustainable crop top and skirt set

The custom bolero and skirt set comes from Pipatchara, a brand founded by Thai designer Pipatchara Kaeojinda in partnership with her sister Jittrinee. The brand's goal was to create wearable art out of waste plastic, and they made it happen for Lisa. According to the brand's Instagram post, her clothes are 80% made from old water bottle caps and bottle caps, and 20% are made from clear food containers used by local households.

Kaeojinda further explained in Thai the extensive amount of work that goes into Lisa's costumes. A Google translation of her Instagram caption revealed that the team used natural colors, so they had to choose their materials very carefully. "The team carefully graded the colors of the garments from light to dark," said the translator. "To make the dress sparkle after the party, we used over 1,800 pieces of trash."

Finished product appearance

Lisa paired the outfit with classic high-heeled sandals in a color that matched her skin tone, and she also carried a $2,600 Louis Vuitton Nano Speedy mini bag. Her only jewelry appeared to be a ring, and she wore her hair down. Nothing stands out more than her crop top and skirt.

Seeing the complete look was special for Kaeojinda. "I am speechless at this moment," the designer wrote while reposting Lisa's photo. “Thank you for the opportunity to see this piece custom made just for you! It’s an absolute honor for us @pipatchara We are truly grateful and I’m sure all my team can feel the love and support. Today It’s like a dream for us.”
