There are thousands of pet influencers on Instagram, and one hospitality company is offering your dog the chance to join them. So, if your dog loves traveling and wants to explore the world, there’s a chance they’ll become a canine hotel reviewer.
Hotels.com is looking for a furry friend to try out 10 great dog-friendly hotels. Your dog- And you, naturally— You will be allowed to choose any eligible hotel and enjoy luxury. To mark the occasion, and in response to a trend that has seen a 62% increase in pet-friendly hotel reviews over the past two years, Hotels.com is launching the "Best for Pets" category in its annual awards.

To join the ranks of your canine friends, all you have to do is snap a super cute or funny photo and upload it to Instagram. Follow the @hotelsdotcom account, tag them in your photos, and don’t forget to add the hashtag #CanineCritic. You can also add a line or two to the photo about why your dog deserves to see the world.
Entries must be submitted by 11:59pm on August 25th. The winner will be notified via direct message before September 19th and will receive 10 hotel vouchers worth up to £157 each. In addition to being prepared for the trip of a lifetime, you also want to make sure your dog is travel-friendly too. Currently, dogs in the UK can travel anywhere in the EU without having to quarantine alone for a period of time. This may change after Brexit, so keep an eye on official government guidance for the latest rules.
But any dog entering the EU will need a pet passport issued by a registered veterinarian. According to animal charity Blue Cross, eligible dogs need to be at least 12 weeks old, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations (including rabies) and have been treated for tapeworms for 24 to 120 hours before re-entering the UK. Your veterinarian can advise you on any other health risks.
It's also important to make sure your pet remains stress-free during the trip. If traveling by air, most airlines require dogs to be placed in the cargo hold. Some ferries require dogs to be left alone in the vehicle for the duration of the ferry. Research the best way to get your pet to where you want to go. Blue Cross says this is usually a method of transport that allows your dog to stay with you or be placed in a suitable kennel on the ship.
