The cost of your Spotify subscription plan increases by $1-3 per month, depending on your plan.
It's been less than a year since Spotify raised the price of its premium plans, but this month it's raising prices again.
The company said in a blog post that it will increase the price of subscription plans from $1 to $3 per month, depending on your plan. The premium plan focuses on offering ad-free music, but with prices rising regularly, some listeners may choose to stick with the ad-supported version.
The cost of individual plans increases by $1 per month. The personal plan now costs $11.99/month. Considering the last price increase was $1 per month, that means your Spotify individual subscription went up by $2 in one year.
Dual and family plans were hit harder. The Duo plan, which allows two people living together to share an account, increases the price by $2 per month. Now, you'll pay $16.99 per month instead of $14.99 per month. The biggest increase will be for those subscribing to the family plan, which currently costs $16.99 per month. The price increases to $19.99 per month.
Student plans are also affected, increasing by $1 per month to $5.99 per month.
Spotify said the price increase will take effect "so that we can continue to invest in and innovate our products and features." Presumably, this could mean more features like audiobooks, which were added last year, and maybe even lossless or high-definition audio options, and those will definitely cost more.
