If you've been waiting for the latest OnePlus flagship, now's the time to get excited.
OnePlus' next flagship phone, the OnePlus 12, will be launched on January 23, 2024, along with a more affordable 12R model. This is also the first time that the R series has been launched outside China.
We got a sneak peek at the phone's new colors last month, but OnePlus has now officially announced the release date. The information comes from a new 10th anniversary video, which includes a fireside chat with several of the company's founding members, including Pete Lau and Kinder Lee.
"Back in 2013, we were a small team, but we had very big ideas about building better products," OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau said in a statement. "Despite what has happened since we started A lot has changed, but the same thing hasn't changed. No matter how the world around us changes, the essence of who we are as OnePlus will remain true to our roots."
The company says the OnePlus 12 series has been 10 years in the making and promises it will strike a balance between high performance, power consumption, cooling and longevity. It wants to go the extra mile, premised on the premise that smartphones can be high-end and flagship without needing Pro or Ultra designations (a mockery of those differentiated companies).
The OnePlus 12 will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile chip, a fourth-generation Hasselblad camera and a new 64MP periscope lens, as well as a nice green color like the one pictured above. The OnePlus 12R is a more budget-focused version of the phone that will eventually be released outside of India and China. They will both be released during a special event on January 23 at 19:30 (9am ET / 6am PT).
