Google Chrome is testing a new feature that lets you enable or disable all extensions with the click of a button. Whether it's debugging or saving resources, there are many reasons why you might want to use this feature, as first discovered by Gamer Stones. I was able to find this feature in the stable version of Chrome (specifically version 123.0.6312.123) on Windows and Mac.
Why you might want to use this feature
Sometimes, a web page doesn't load correctly, or certain elements don't work as you expect. If you're having trouble submitting a form or parts of your webpage are broken, the first step in troubleshooting is to check if an extension is causing the problem. Previously, you had to switch to an incognito window, where most extensions were disabled by default, or manually disable all extensions to check if that resolved the issue.
With this new feature, you can quickly disable all extensions and reload the page to determine what's causing the problem. Likewise, if your laptop battery is low or your PC is running sluggishly, you can quickly disable all Chrome extensions to improve performance. You may also consider using this feature when you are taking an online test, browsing important applications, or other situations where you need to turn off browser extensions.
How to disable all Chrome extensions with one click
This setting is hidden behind the Chrome logo. You can access it by opening Google Chrome and entering: chrome://flags in the address bar. Now use the search bar to find Extension Menu Access Control and click on the drop-down menu next to it. Select Enable . Once this is done, you can restart Google Chrome.
Now you can open any website and click on the Extension icon in the toolbar. It's located to the right of the address bar, and its icon looks like a puzzle piece. When you click this button, you will see a switch next to Extensions . Click this button to disable all extensions on this site. You can click the same switch to enable them again. You can also click the switch next to any extension in the list to manage them individually.
