This is why you can't create a playlist on TikTok

While you may already know how to organize the TikToks you see in your feed, you may not know how to organize the videos you post on your page. This is where TikTok playlists come in handy, and even if you're not sure how to make one, you've probably come across them on the profiles of some of your favorite influencers.

If you post a bunch of different content (like recipe videos, makeup tutorials, and home tips), you'll probably want to group them all together in some way, even if you post them in an unordered way. To do this, you need to create a playlist, but you should know a few things about who can create playlists on the app and how. Read on to learn how to create a playlist on TikTok.

What are playlists on TikTok?

TikTok playlists are only visible on a user's profile on the mobile app, and if enabled, you'll see them under their bio and right above their videos. Each playlist has a name (which can include emojis) and a small graphic with a play symbol. When you click on a playlist, you will be redirected to a feed containing only the videos contained in that playlist so that you can watch them one by one.

Users often create playlists of videos with similar content or even "story time" videos posted in parts. Take @helltefi, for example, who created a multi-part series about different pop culture moments on her TikTok page. When you go to her profile, you can scroll through her playlists to find the story you want to watch, rather than having to shuffle through her hundreds of videos to find the next one in a given series.

You can find playlists on a creator's profile below their bio and above their videos. Douyin/hellotefi

Who can create playlists on TikTok?

The problem is, not every account currently has the ability to create playlists on TikTok. According to TikTok's website, if you don't see the option to create a playlist in the Videos tab of your profile, you won't be able to use this feature yet. This feature is only available to creators, so it will likely be based on follower count and posting consistency, similar to the verification process.

How to make a playlist on TikTok

If you happen to be able to create a playlist on your TikTok account, here are the steps.

Create playlists based on your profile

Click on the bottom right corner of the app to go to your profile. Make sure you're in the Videos tab of your profile and click Sort videos into playlists (if you haven't created any playlists yet) or the plus icon next to the existing playlist carousel (if you already have one some playlists). Next, you'll be prompted to perform steps in the app to name your playlist and add videos. Note that you can only add public videos to playlists.

Make a playlist from videos

If you're re-watching an existing video on your profile, it might occur to you to create a playlist for it immediately. In this case, tap on the three-dot icon to the right of the video or hold on the video. You will see the "Add to playlist" option, which you should click to get the "Create playlist" option. From there, you'll follow the steps to name the playlist and include additional videos.
