This article explains how to create a PlayStation Network (PSN) account on a computer or PS5 or PS4 console (these are the only locations where account creation is supported).
PlayStation Network (PSN) is a digital entertainment service for PlayStation. Using a PSN account, you can download games and other applications. Here's how to create an account from your computer:
Open the Sony Entertainment Network Create Account page and select Create .
Select your country from the drop-down menu, select your language, and fill in the other details in the form. Click "Next" when finished.
Enter your date of birth in the appropriate box and press Next .
Enter your email address and create a password for your new PSN account.
It is strongly recommended that you choose a password that has never been used on any website before. If you need some guidance, we have some tips on how to set a good password.
Read the Personalize content page and check or uncheck settings as needed. Select Confirm to continue.
Select Agree and create an account .
Open your email and click on the link Sony sends to your inbox to verify your address.
Select your online ID that others will see when you play online, then fill out the rest of the form with your name. Click Next .
Once you've finished setting up your account, you'll see a success message.
If you already have a PSN account on your PS4, you can log in with the same account on your PS5 console. If you don't have an account, you can create a new account directly from PlayStation. That's it:
Go to the home screen and select Add User .
Select Start .
Read the User Agreement and then, if you want to continue, press the box next to "I agree." Select Confirm .
Select Create Account .
In the next few steps, you will be asked to fill in various information. This includes your country, language preference and date of birth. Follow the on-screen prompts.
When asked, enter your email address and create a password for your PSN account. Press "Next" after doing this.
The next few steps will ask for your name, location, and profile picture. Complete the on-screen questions, pressing "Next" after each question.
When you power on your PlayStation for the first time, you'll see the name you selected.
Enter the online ID you want to use and press Next .
Don't use your real name! Others can see this ID in games, messages, and other areas.
On the Privacy Settings screen, select one of the available profiles. Or, select Custom Settings to define things like who can see your real name and profile picture in search results, games, and more.
On the Data Collection screen, you'll be asked if Sony can use your usage data to improve its services. You can choose: Select "Limited data only" or "Confirm and continue."
When asked about personalized ads and purchasing recommendations, select "Disable and continue" or "Enable and continue."
Check I agree on the Important Legal Documents screen and select Confirm .
Check your email! Select the "Verify now" link in the email from Sony to confirm your account.
On the PS5's Protect Your Account screen, choose whether to require a password to log in and whether to require a password at checkout. Select OK .
If you want to turn on two-factor authentication, select SMS or an authenticator app . Or, choose to do this later .
(Optional) Add a phone number to your account that Sony can use to help you reset your account if you lose access to it for any reason. Select Do it later to skip this step.
Finally, select OK . You have created a PlayStation Network account!
Here's how to create a PSN account on PlayStation 4:
Open the console and activate the controller (press the PS button), select "New User" on the screen.
Select Create User and then select Accept on the User Agreement screen.
Select Next on the following screen.
Choosing PlayStation Network New to this? create an account .
Follow the on-screen instructions to submit your location, email address, and unique password, then select Next to navigate through the screens.
Choose an avatar. You can change this setting at any time in the future.
Enter the username you want other players to recognize. Also, please include your name, but remember it will be public. Press Next .
The next few screens allow you to set privacy settings. You can choose "Anyone," "Friends of Friends," "Friends Only," or "No One" for each specific activity .
Select "Accept" on the final screen to accept the Terms of Service and User Agreement.
That's it! You now have a PSN account.
Deleting a PSN account is a complicated process. Contact Sony directly and request to close it, providing your account ID and the email address associated with it. Once closed, you will not be able to reuse that PSN account name, and you will lose access to all related purchases, subscriptions, and remaining funds in its wallet.
Computer: Visit Account Management > Security > Edit next to "Login ID", set up a new email, then save . PS5: Settings > Users & Accounts > Accounts > Login ID (email address) , enter new email, save . PS4: Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Login ID , enter password, set new email address> Confirm .
