This week, Microsoft launched a new line of Surface computers, including the Copilot+ PC Windows AI line, which it claims is faster than the new M3 MacBook. Whether or not these results are confirmed by real-world testing, the devices are available for pre-order now, and one of the pre-order deals looks pretty good.
The new Surface series includes Surface Laptop Copilot+ PC and Surface Pro Copilot+ PC, both starting at $999.99 . Best Buy is immediately rescinding pre-order offers on all Copilot+ devices and announced in a press release that My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members can get a free 50-inch device when they pre-order one of the AI-enabled devices. 4K smart TV devices.
While the Best Buy pre-order offer applies to any new Copilot+ PC device, the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are undoubtedly the most interesting new products. Both Surface devices run Snapdragon X Elite and Plus chips and come with all the Copilot+ PC perks, giving you the option of using them as a laptop or a convertible laptop/tablet device.
Microsoft - Surface Laptop Copilot+ PC 13.8-inch Touchscreen – Snapdragon X Plus – 16GB RAM – 256GB SSD (7th Edition)Here's how senior technical editor Jake Peterson describes the Surface Laptop:
Microsoft - Surface Pro Copilot+ PC 13-inch - Snapdragon X Plus - 16GB RAM - 256GB SSD - Device Only (Version 11)Surface Laptop features a new design with thinner bezels, a tactile touchpad, and a 13.8-inch display or a 15-inch display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. Microsoft says this machine can achieve up to 20 hours of local video playback (note, not streaming) on the 13.8-inch model and 22 hours on the 15.8-inch model, and supports Wi-Fi 7. As the name suggests, this is a laptop, so while it has a touchscreen, it's not removable. The product is available for pre-order now, with prices starting at $999.99 (13.8-inch) and $1,299.99 (15-inch). If you want the 13.8-inch Snapdragon X Elite, the price increases to $1,399.99, which is $100 more than the 15-inch Elite.
This is what Jake said about Surface Pro:
If you're looking for a machine with a detachable tablet, look no further than the Surface Pro. The latest 2-in-1 Surface comes in an optional 13-inch OLED configuration with an ultrawide camera, two USB-4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, and support for output to up to three external 4K displays. It's worth noting that you can actually replace many parts of the Surface Pro, including the motherboard, battery, and camera. (What year is it?) Finally, the new Surface Flex Keyboard actually works when detached, so you don't need to physically connect it to a monitor to type.
The free 50-inch Insignia Class F30 Series 4K Fire TV that comes with the computer normally sells for $299.99. Considering Best Buy's most basic paid membership is $49.99 per year, this deal is well worth it if you need a new TV. You'll receive other benefits, including additional discounts on Drops sales, and you can cancel your membership at any time after the year.
