So, lube is now a beauty product

Lubricants have a very specific purpose. There's really no solution, right? Incorrect. The main purpose of lube is to enhance sexual performance, but did you know that it can also be used effectively as a beauty product? A product that’s great for your hair and skin? true story. Überlube is a high-performance lube; it's a silicone-based, multi-tasking, long-lasting world champion lube that can be used for many activities beyond sex.

Although I'm very skeptical of the idea - Moroccan oil (or these hair de-frizzers and smoothers) works great when I want to add a little shine to my straight hair, and a coconut oil spray keeps my skin in good condition and hydration - but I decided to go for a G-rated (instead of looking for a G-spot) way of inserting and lubricating. Ladies, get your minds out of the gutter.

Lube: It's not just about sex anymore .

Lubricants are designed to prevent chafing and reduce friction during physical activity. If you don't overdo it, you'll have silky smooth, moisturized skin.

Last week, I tried Überlube, which comes packaged in a stylish and simple glass jar that allows for public display while remaining discreet. I use it as a hair smoother and gloss as well as a skin conditioner.

I smeared a light layer of lube on my legs and thighs, got dressed, and threw myself into a pair of skinny jeans that I had chosen to wear to a busy event taking place all over New York City that day. It's the hottest day in New York. That year. I did this in hopes that it would result in less bruising...and it did.

Überlube made my already shiny hair manageable after I put a couple drops on my hands, rubbed my palms together, and ran a rake through my strands. It also gives my skin that much desired glow and glow, especially when I smooth it on my arms. It hydrated my dry cuticles, which by day six of my manicure cycle were ragged, dehydrated and in desperate need of something rich and ultra-hydrating to quench my thirst. This stuff fits the bill.

Even at night I use a small amount of lube. I also add this lubricant to a cotton pad and use it as a makeup remover. It actually wipes off my stubborn mascara before washing my face (a L'Oreal comic, if you must know).

The lube is thick, not super thick, but you still need to use a small amount. Still, it's a perfectly acceptable moisturizer that prevents chafing or irritation on my inner thighs when I'm running around New York in leggings. However, I would consider using it when I go to a wedding or whenever I plan to wear something that will show off my shoulders and legs because I like the glow and glow when my skin is on display.

All in all, it does a great job of moisturizing. The folks at Überlube even recommend that swimmers use their product to enhance their ability to glide through the water.

I have to be careful not to smudge or overdo it because I don't want to look like I'm the winner of an oil wrestling match. I don't want to leave an oil slick on the chair, paper, or anything else I touch.

I absolutely love how soft my skin feels after a day of using the lube instead of my regular moisturizer. I'm not sure if it's suitable as an everyday replacement, but in hot, dry weather, it's ace. I can see myself using and applying it more liberally during the cold, dry, harsh winter months when my skin needs a little more care.

Oh, and if you want to use lube for its intended purpose, then use it—regardless of the weather.
