This 'Stranger Things' villain has nothing to do with the Upside Down, but you'll hate him anyway

"Stranger Things 2" will be available for unlimited streaming on Netflix on October 27, and fans of "Stranger Things 2" will get an extra treat this Halloween. The highly anticipated second season will bring a host of new characters, with the return of favorites like Mike, Nancy and Joyce. According to TV Guide, two new siblings are moving to Hawkins, this time. So, who is Max's brother Billy in "Stranger Things" ? He can cause a lot of trouble.

Billy, played by Australian actor Dacre Montgomery, seems to be causing some buzz after his debut in this season of "Stranger Things." According to Vulture , Billy is the new bad boy prototype after moving to Hawkins from California. In addition to having a bad attitude, he also brings along his sister Max (Sadie Sink), a sassy redhead who might end up joining the Dungeons & Dragons team. According to the same article, Billy had a very aggressive personality who enjoyed drinking and speeding in his Camaro (of course). Billy will be more in Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve's age bracket, which means any problems he ends up causing could affect their already tenuous dynamic in a big way. Since Nancy may have already been grieving the loss of her best friend Barb in season one, this probably won't be a welcome source of stress.

In an interview with IMDB's Kevin Smith at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Montgomery revealed that the Duffer brothers told him to watch a lot of Jack Nicholson movies to prepare for the role of Billy, especially The Shining . Montgomery went on to say, "My character has a Jack Nicholson-like unpredictable nature in a lot of ways." When Smith asked if his character would be heavily influenced by The Shining , Montgomery nodded. As a refresher, Nicholson's character in The Shining slowly loses his mind and eventually attempts to kill his entire family. So developing the character of Billy is going to be quite an exciting journey.

Montgomery didn't star in "Stranger Things 2" the old-fashioned way. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Montgomery revealed that he was actually a huge fan of the show before he was cast or auditioned for the role. When his manager told him there was an 18-year-old bad boy role in season two, he really wanted to nail down the audition, and he explained how hard he worked to get the job. "I was so nervous about it and wanted it so bad that I made it into a short film," the actor said. "I had an opening score, opening titles and end credits." He even took the whole thing up about 500 notches by stripping off, because, apparently. "I was wearing a thong, a leather jacket, crazy glasses and dancing naked to '80s music," he revealed.

Apparently, it worked because he sent the tape on Thursday night, got a call for a Skype meeting with the Duffer brothers on Friday, and was offered the job the following Monday. The lesson here is that 80s music and passion are the real keys to making your dreams come true.

Although Montgomery is still a newcomer, he may be familiar to some fans of the group of teenagers who regularly transform into superheroes. He recently starred in the new Power Rangers reboot. According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter , protagonist Red Ranger Jason is actually the 22-year-old's first movie role.

Billy seems like an unknown quantity, which is stressful because the poor residents of Hawkins have enough to worry about. Who knows, though, giant monsters from the Upside Down do have a way of bringing people together.
