Kendall Jenner clarifies viral cucumber cutting moment

Kendall Jenner seemed to break the internet when she tried to cut a cucumber during an episode of the first season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians . "I'm definitely not a good cutter, so don't zoom in on me," Jenner told the camera as she fumbled with vegetables and a knife as she prepared the snack. While Kendall insisted she could handle it herself, a worried Kris ·Jenner still suggested hiring a chef to help her. While slicing a cucumber, Kendall wondered aloud "if the cucumber has seeds" and admitted she was nervous about the task.

A year after the scene aired, the model elaborated on the viral moment to The Wall Street Journal. The magazine's summer digital issue says she can chop vegetables without mistakes or injuries.

"All I can say is that I successfully cut the 'cucumber,'" Jenner told the publication. "So if someone says I can't cut a cucumber, I cut it myself and I do it tastefully. I'm not hurting anyone. So I can cut a cucumber." Jenner also said that she likes to cut cucumbers for Cook and entertain friends and family. One of her favorite dishes to make is herb chicken and vegetable pilaf, a recipe she got from her parents.

When the cucumber moment on "Kardashians" aired in May 2022, Twitter couldn't take its eyes off the video of Jenner's skills. "The way Kendall Jenner cuts a cucumber gives me chills," one fan wrote on Twitter at the time. "Seeing Kendall Jenner chopping cucumbers really makes me feel better about my cooking," another joked. Jenner poked fun at the viral clip that set the internet ablaze, saying It's a "tragedy".

Jenner further made up for the fiasco by dressing up as a cucumber slice in a Halloween costume. "Tonight I will be giving out fruits and vegetables," she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

Jenner previously spoke about her cooking skills in an interview with Architectural Digest . "This house pushes me to spend more time in the kitchen," she said of her Los Angeles home in December 2020. "I'm always there trying to improve as a cook. At this point I'm a pretty good cook. Kelly and I are very lucky to have the guidance of our sister and a mom who really sticks together."
