Wendy's is finally coming to the UK

Remember the chicken sandwich wars that took over America last year? Well, it's time to take action as US burger giant Wendy's is finally making its way to the UK and looks set to give fast food chains McDonald's and Burger King a run for their money.

Wendy's is the second largest burger chain in the US but has not had a presence in the UK for almost two decades. However, Wendy's is ready for a massive "European-wide expansion" after claiming to have "deposed" Burger King in the US.

According to BBC News, Wendy's is expected to make a massive return to the UK, opening 400 new stores across the country (and potentially creating 12,000 new jobs), with the first expected to open in Reading next month, followed by Strutt Fuhe Oxford opens.

The good news for food delivery lovers is that you'll be able to order Wendy's for home delivery through Uber Eats.

So what's on the menu?

Well, the full menu hasn't been announced yet, but according to BBC News , Wendy's menu will be "tailored for the UK market and include more vegetarian options."

The burger giant is bringing its signature Dave's burger to the UK, made with a quarter pound of fresh beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mayonnaise and onions, all served on a toasted bun . It could be a tasty competitor to the McDonald's Quarter Pounder. Time will prove everything.

The much-hyped Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich is also on its UK menu, The Sun reports, confirming that Wendy's will also introduce UK fast food lovers to their signature Wendy's dessert: chocolate frosting.

A Wendy's spokesperson said: "The launch of Wendy's in the UK will lead expansion across Europe as Wendy's looks to build on strong growth across the Atlantic, where the brand last year replaced Burger King becomes the second largest brand in the U.S. burger market."

There are already plenty of burger joints to choose from, and it's safe to say that fast food lovers will have plenty to choose from in the coming weeks.
