If there's one thing Taylor Swift loves more than songwriting and cats, it's probably high-waisted shorts. The singer is known for rocking high-waisted pants both on stage and at home, even telling Vogue in 2016 that they were her favorite trend. Now, Swift took her love of the fashion staple to the next level when she embraced the pantsless trend on her Eras tour.
For the revamped show, which kicked off in Paris on May 9, Swift wore a stunning newspaper-style gown and added a new section that featured songs from her latest album , The Tortured Poets Department . But before the show's final song, "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," she and her dancers performed a dramatic number in which she changed costumes on stage to reveal a daring no-pants look .
Swift's pantsless suit
At her first Paris show, Swift debuted her custom-made Vivienne Westwood outfit, which included a black bra top, matching high-waisted underwear, and a gold circus ringleader jacket. The next night, she donned a white look, teaming it with a white jacket with silver trim.
For her third Paris performance, Swift wore a shimmering gray hot pants suit, which she paired with a silver lord coat with black lapels. For her fourth and final show, she returned to a white bra top and high-waisted underwear, but paired it with a white jacket with black lapels.
Swift also changed shoes during this part of the performance, swapping out her custom Christian Louboutin high-top sneaker heels for silver Louboutin criss-cross ballet flats.
Swift's Circus Inspiration
While her circus-themed look is new for the Eras tour, she embraced the trend in 2012 when she performed "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." She has worn circus ringleader costumes many times at multiple awards shows and on the Red Tour, many of them in sparkling red to match the album.
More than a decade later, Swift paired her beloved collared jacket with the pantsless trend, adding an edge to the circus aesthetic.
