Nearly 15 years after dropping "Telephone," Beyoncé and Lady Gaga may finally be working on a sequel — or at least that's the case according to some new fan theories.
On February 11, Queen Bey once again broke the internet by teasing new music in Verizon's Super Bowl ad before announcing the release of her next album, "Second Act," her three-act project Her first two songs were "Texas Hold'Em" and "16 Carriages." However, fans believe her next collaboration with Gaga may also be in "Second Act," which is released on March 29.
In 2010, the pair released the short film "Telephone," which itself was a sequel to Gaga's "Paparazzi" video in which she was arrested for murdering her boyfriend. In the 10-minute video, Beyoncé bails Gaga out of jail before going on another murder spree together.
In the end, the two left the crime scene hand in hand, with "To be continued..." displayed on the screen. Fourteen years later, the promise of a sequel has yet to be fulfilled. However, thanks to some visual clues, Hive and Little Monsters suspect the long-awaited sequel may be coming soon.
bey's yellow cab
The abandoned taxi Beyoncé drives in the trailer for "Second Act" is reminiscent of the yellow pickup truck she drove in "The Call." Strangely, she used two vehicles at the same time to cross the deserted country road. Maybe she's picking up Gaga again.
Verizon commercial
Beyoncé uses Verizon's Super Bowl ad to promote new album. The "Telephone" video also features a wireless company showing off Virgin Mobile phones multiple times. Is this just a coincidence or an elaborate reference by Bay?
Gaga's "two" gesture
Both Gaga and Bey are participating in the 2024 Super Bowl. While they didn't pose together, Gaga did share a photo of the stadium view on Instagram and gave a peace sign to the camera. Since Bey announced "Second Act" that night, fans have speculated that Gaga's logo is actually a "two" and an Easter egg she will appear on the upcoming album.
Gaga's jersey number
Gaga wore No. 16 for the big game in support of the San Francisco 49ers. Later that night, Bey released "16 Carriages" as one of the first singles from Second Act. Maybe Gaga chose her number wisely.
February 11
Beyoncé revealed "Second Act" on February 11. While she made the announcement that day to capitalize on Super Bowl Sunday, it happened to be the same day Gaga was jailed in the "Telephone" video.
"Texas Hold'em"
Bey wrote "Texas Hold 'Em" as a tribute to her Southern roots and hometown of Houston. But fans think it could also be a reference to Gaga's 2008 hit "Poker Face," which begins with her singing: "I wanna hold them like the people in Texas."
These theories, along with the potential for new music from Gaga this year, will only make fans more excited for another collaboration between the two artists.
