Bette Midler is ready to claim her RHOBH diamonds. The actress and singer excited reality TV fans on March 30 when she expressed interest in joining the cast of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" on X (formerly Twitter).
"Is it too late for me to become a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills?" she asked. “I’ve never watched it but I’m in the mood to talk some shit. And get paid for it? A dream! #robuch.”
"Talk about a glorious crossover," the official Bravo X account wrote in response to Midler's post, along with a winking face and diamond emoji, referencing the show's logo. Host Andy Cohen also responded: "It's about time!"
On "RHOBH," stars read out their personal slogans during the show's opening titles, and Midler had his own thoughts. "I think my slogan should be, 'Those beaches don't know what to expect!!'" she wrote, referencing her 1988 film The Beach .
Andy is a little doubtful
On April 1, Cohen responded to Midler's post again, telling listeners of his SiriusXM radio show that "she's going to be the grand dame of Beverly Hills soon!"
While Cohen is excited about Midler (an Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner) joining the series, he's not convinced she's cut out for the reality show.
"When I really thought about it, my only concern was that I didn't know she was going to like us showing up with cameras and shooting her," he explained, adding that she might demand a hefty salary. "I mean, Bette Midler is a superstar," he continued. "Because she said she wanted to make a lot of money to speak, how much would that cost?"
Despite Cohen's concerns, RHOBH fans were quick to express concern about Midler's relationship with current stars Kyle Richards , Erica Jayne , Dorit Kemsley , Crystal Minkoff , Sutton Stracke has commented on the possibility of working together with Garcelle Beauvais.
"I would pay to see this," one viewer wrote under Midler's post, with another adding, "We need Queen Betty on RHOBH ASAP."
