When Beyoncé sang "When I rock my Givenchy dress, I'm so reckless," she was probably talking about her Met Gala look the year before. However, "reckless" isn't the adjective a fashion girl would use to describe this look - "eye-popping, chic and absolutely iconic" would be more accurate.
Queen Bey has been a long-time attendee of the Vogue Gala, having had a red carpet counterpart in each of her creations since 2008. However, her look couldn't match the impact she made when she walked up the steps at the 2015 gala. In fact, her bejeweled custom gown still lives (figuratively) in the Met Gala Hall of Fame and in the memories of fashion girls around the world.
Beyoncé's bewitching dress
For most Met Gala attendees, the highly anticipated evening is the event of a day, a month, or even a year. But for Beyoncé, this is just another stop on the road. She attended a fundraiser with former President Barack Obama before heading to the museum, and as a result, she ended up being the last person to walk up the steps of the Met.
The last-minute surprise appearance certainly got the internet buzzing - even more so after her risqué dress was documented around the world. The pair collaborated with Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci to translate the theme "China: Through the Looking Glass" into dazzling nude dresses. The floor-length piece is made from flesh-toned mesh that's almost completely transparent save for strategically placed jewels and beads.
While it wasn't the first, or last, nude dress to grace the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the jewel-encrusted look had a regal feel. It totally lives up to her Queen Bey nickname.
Her exaggerated ponytail
Lest you forget she's a diva , Beyoncé added even more drama to her already stylish gown. She tied her hair into a high ponytail, deliberately tilted to one side, and her curls hung loosely. Her makeup, on the other hand, was glowing and natural-looking, with a dramatic cat eye.
Just a low-key date night
Of course, she was accompanied by her forever date at the Met Gala, her husband Jay-Z. The rapper let his wife shine in a simple double-breasted suit with a matching black tie. Together they were the power couple of the night.
