Sam’s Club now sells three-tier mermaid cake that can satisfy your entire pool party needs

People love outrageous food. The more colorful and unique the snacks are, the better. Log into any social media platform and you’ll find a plethora of fairy tale quality cakes in just a few clicks. Although to actually buy one of these cakes, you usually need to go to a boutique specialty bakery. But thanks to one grocery store chain, you can have your cake and eat it too. Sam's Club has just launched a 3-tier mermaid cake starting July 20th, perfect for your summer parties next year.

The mermaid cake is simply a masterpiece. In fact, it looks more like something that belongs in a museum than something to eat after dinner. The bottom layer is covered in a pattern of blue, green and purple scales, reminiscent of a mermaid's tail. The second layer is completely covered in rainbow sprinkles. Like, completely coated in them. Think of the drizzle you find on a typical ice cream cone; this layer of cake gets hit by a snowstorm. The top floor features beautiful, precise piped frosted decorations that look like algae, kelp, and various other aquatic plants. Each layer has a piping border at the bottom, providing an extra layer of definition to the final product. Plastic seahorses and bubbles are scattered throughout, and a giant translucent aqua mermaid tail completes the edible underwater utopia.

The cake is available in chocolate or vanilla flavors. Sam's Club also offers customers the choice of two different sizes, a standard three-layer version, or a smaller two-layer version (with the entire middle layer removed). The former seats 46 people and is priced at $36.98, while the latter seats 66 people and is priced at $68.98. For both, the price is about a dollar per serving, which is an incredibly low price for such a giant piece of sugary monster.

Sam's Club

This isn't the first time Sam's Club has launched a dreamy dessert. In fact, the Mermaid Cake is somewhat of a follow-up to the Unicorn Cake released last spring.

Sam's Club Unicorn Cake is similar to Mermaid Cake in many ways. In addition to being sold for the same price, both have three floors and look like the stuff of childhood dreams (or childlike innocence). The bottom layer of Sam's Club Unicorn Cake is decorated with a rainbow of pastel horizontal stripes. The middle layer is like a mermaid cake, completely covered in fluorescent powdered sugar; but there are no air bubbles here. The top layer depicts golden unicorn lashes that snooze comfortably. The whole creation is completed with unicorn ears, a wisp of airy, delicate blue and bright pink frosting hair, and a gold plastic horn. It also comes in chocolate or vanilla flavors.

Sam's Club

Mermaids and unicorns have long gone hand in hand. It’s about time someone – rather something – gave people the chance to celebrate both. Don’t limit your next party to being themed specifically around one fairy tale creature. Both cakes symbolize creatures known to possess magical powers. If you ask the wizarding world, unicorn blood can provide immortality, while mermaid blood has been depicted in art and prose as alluring and possessing beautiful singing voices. Both are perfect for capturing that summer vibe~.

As summer slowly winds down, use the remaining time to channel your inner magical being. Host a pool party. Swim at night and embrace the feeling of water sparkling on human skin. Just because you don't have a scale doesn't mean you can't channel your inner alarm.

The Mermaid Cake will be available at Sam's Club stores nationwide starting July 20 and is made to order - so call ahead to make your dream come true.
