In case you missed it, nude photos were leaked again over the weekend, with a host of new celebrities and Jennifer Lawrence falling victim to them for the second time. This disgusting behavior got a quicker response this time, with photos posted almost as fast as they were posted, but considering this is the internet, not enough to completely wipe them out. While some celebrities have taken legal action, such as Gabrielle Union, who took her case to the FBI, others have simply been forced to speak out for themselves after being victimized. Meagan Good is one of those celebrities, but her defense was especially epic. Goode called on fans to repost the leaked nude photos because at the end of the day, they are just as bad as the original hacker.
Goode's message to retweeters was posted on Instagram on Sunday, and she's calling out more than just them. In a powerful opening statement, Goode said: "I am absolutely devastated and saddened for everyone who is going through this, but I 'choose' not to grant my authority to those responsible. "The hack did not provide the still-anonymous hackers with the reaction they might have wanted. Instead of getting upset, Goode seemed more shocked, and the fact that she was able to keep her cool was encouraging.
"Oh yeah, to everyone who retweeted leaked nude photos? You should be ashamed of yourself," Goode continued, even adding a smiley face at the end, "Have your day now ”
Ultimately, there are a number of ways you can deal with the hurt caused by the leak of your personal and intimate photos. Even though there are many wrong responses, there is no right way to respond. However, Goode's response was just right and made me sympathize with her and her situation even more. After all, just posting this message received more attention than the attackers truly deserved.
