No one wants to waste a beautiful piece of clothing. Whether it's your favorite little black dress or that sparkly dress you wore last New Year's Eve, don't give up on that dream dress. One SAG Awards attendee certainly didn't think so. Beanie Feldstein wore her ball gown to the 2018 SAG Awards, and honestly, it was pretty relatable.
Now, some prom dresses are probably best left in the closet, and of course, there's always the option of donating them to those looking for a dress. However, Feldstein kept her clothes , People reported. The Lady Bird star explained to the magazine that she loves the dress (she wore it to prom with Dear Evan Hansen 's Ben Platt), and for good reason . The deep V-neck gown with thick straps and flowing A-line skirt looked gorgeous on Feldstein. Paired with her side-swept waves, it's a classic look for the actor.
Feldstein walked the carpet with her mother as part of the cast of Lady Bird. She was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture along with other actors. She was joined by fellow actors and nominees Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Laurie Metcalf and director Greta Gerwig. While everyone appeared on the carpet looking perfect, no one was as relatable as Feldstein.
In an interview with The Cut , Feldstein explained that it was her mom and her mom's best friend who encouraged her to wear a prom dress. She said: "It's just a gorgeous dress, and I love that my character's story ends at the ball, so it's like, my first time going to an award show as a nominee and as an actor, it's like, you have to wear your prom dress, girl, tribute to Jolie .”
Of course, Feldstein isn't the only one recycling clothing. Even members of the royal family do it. Kate Middleton has been known to re-wear her clothes, and there's really no reason not to. Why waste a gown that looks great?
As for the reaction to Feldstein's sartorial choice? Fans love it and her.
Fans of the film were so excited that she chose to do this as a tribute to her character , Julie, Lady Bird .
Others simply ask, why not? Really? why not?
Indeed, fans were thrilled with the dress choice.
Some fans are seeking immediate friend status with Feldstein, and can you blame them? It makes perfect sense for Feldstein to honor her role at the SAG Awards with her sartorial choices. She has openly expressed her love for the film and the creativity behind it.
Posting on her Instagram account, Feldstein wrote: "This movie, this movie, this movie!! It captured my heart. I still can't believe I was a part of it. Greta & Saoirse is two of the most extraordinary women in my mind. "I know that together they captured the humanity of a 17-year-old girl, and all the heartbreak, laughter, and exploration that comes with it filled every frame of them. Love them, go see @ladybirdmovie! "
Whether you personally hate your high school prom dress, hang it in a shadow box out of #nostalgia, or you threw it away a long time ago, Beanie Feldstein wore her prom dress to SAG Awards are a total moment. Not only did she look beautiful in her Kay Ungler gown, but there was real meaning behind the decision.
Let us all hear Feldstein be the hero we need, but not the all-out champion of not wasting fashion on the carpet, for recycling her gown.
