We all have icons from the turn of the millennium who defined the decade. To me, it's totally Xtina. Christina Aguilera's early 2000s fashion scene was, is, and will always be legendary. At the time, she was shedding a cookie-cutter good-girl image and seemed to be trying to separate herself from that style and her association with Britney Spears. I don't think anything shocked me as much as the "Dirty" video, so support Aguilera's adventures and see them pay off.
From grungy style to reviving the '50s aesthetic in "Candyman," Aguilera tried everything to stand out, and she certainly did it. While all of her songs from this period would be considered rock songs - perfect for drunken karaoke and reminiscing about my pre-teen days - her style really epitomized the turn of the century.
This list of Aguilera's early 2000s outfits isn't meant to make fun of the star, but rather to proudly commemorate how perfectly she nailed (if not created) early '00s style. Without Aguilera, would early '00s fashion be as exciting to look back on as it is now? So go ahead and admire how glorious these looks actually are - whether for the new millennium or for contemporary nostalgia purposes.
1. Voulez Vous Coucher Avec Moi?
If "Lady Marmalade" didn't shape your childhood and charm you, you're definitely missing out. The almost nondescript outfits worn by all the women in the video really changed my life, but Aguilera always stood out among them.
2. Chimney sweeping method
I hated these hats and still do. If they come back gracefully, please end me. But they were a key part of early '00s style, and if anyone can pull it off, it's Xtina.
3. Let’s get dirty
Why don't celebrities still wear butt-baring leather pants? If that's not Christina Aguilera's most iconic look from the early '00s, I don't know what is.
4. Doctor Who atmosphere
That scarf better be a nod to Tom Baker's Doctor Who . Possible cultural references aside, no part of this costume is acceptable in 2016. That's why I like it.
5. Nothing
Xtina really likes those hats, doesn't she? I do like how nearly naked she looks in this outfit, though. This is perfect.
6. Suit
I swear every celebrity has worn a bra-only suit to express their personality. But there are some real hiccups with Aguilera's look here.
7. Make out with Madonna
From Britney Spears to Drake, March has definitely had some steamy kisses on stage. I almost forgot that Xtina also made the lucky list. Let's be honest, Madonna's lips were the ultimate early '00s accessory.
8. Tie-dye dress
It was a shout-out to the '90s that had just ended, but what made the whole look more complete was the fact that Aguilera shocked the world by dyeing her hair black.

I saw Cady Heron wearing military pants and flip-flops, so I bought military pants and flip-flops.

Why wear a classic slogan T-shirt when you can wear a classic slogan tank top and show off your bra straps?
If I didn't convince you that Christina Aguilera was a style icon throughout the early '00s - a goddess in her own right and completely underrated in every way - then I'd be woefully , failed miserably. My mind will never change, though, and I've put together a 15-point list of why.
