Join hands again! Beyoncé kicks off her Formation Tour on April 27 in Miami. For her opening performance and the first time fans met the singer, she wore a Victorian-inspired outfit that included a black crystal embroidered bodice with puffed velvet shoulders and embellished sleeves, a wide-brimmed hat and Lace leather gloves. It's fierce AF and it's a custom piece because of course it is. Who designed Beyonce's total boss opening look on her Formation Tour? Well, it's a repeat for the singer, as this is a brand she's recently collaborated with.
Dsquared2 created head-to-toe custom ensembles that deftly blended their signature aesthetic with Bey's powerful, empowering persona. It’s a perfect rendition of light and dark. The look also included a tattoo-like lace bodysuit that created an embroidered effect on the skin. A crystal mesh fishnet bodysuit added an element of light to an otherwise dark, brooding and undeniably sexy look. Ruffled and bejeweled black ankle boots completed the look.
According to a press release Bustle received from Dsquared2's PR team, the brand also designed looks to compliment the singer's 20 female dancers. Because #synergy.
Check out the sketch of Bey's opening look. Yes, it kills from head to toe.
This is Beyoncé's warrior goddess mode, blending a soft touch with a strong touch.
Remember the leather jacket Bey wore during her Super Bowl performance earlier this year? That warrior-like top hat was also created by Squared2.
Clearly, she's found a designer who can produce performance-worthy pieces that are not only stylish but can stand up to all the notching and sanding she throws at them.
"We're obsessed with Beyoncé, and it was a huge excitement and honor to work with her on this opening look for the Formation tour," enthused the brand's Dean and Dan Caten in a press release.
The Catens continued: "This look tells a story, drawing on themes from our recent womenswear show collection, while visualizing powerful themes from her new music. It was truly amazing to see it come to life on stage. It’s exciting – especially since she opens with a full Dsquared2.”
The dancers wore Victorian-style black lace jumpsuits, leather and lace gloves, wide-brimmed hats, and ruffled shawls with bows around their necks.
Now we know "who" and what Bey and her dancers were wearing. But what would you wear to Beyonce's Formation Tour?
