Friendships between these three signs are often short-lived

They say friends come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime, but if a friendship seems to be ending quickly, it could also just mean they're a Gemini. While some zodiac signs will stay with you for a lifetime, friendships with other zodiac signs are short-lived and fleeting.

According to astrologer and spiritual counselor Wang Letao, each zodiac sign treats friendships differently, including their duration. Depending on the sign's astrological house, planetary aspects, and other factors such as its element and ruling planet, this may make it easier for them to form a short-term connection.

These signs will thrive when they make good friends in college, at work, or while traveling. They're happy to be your best friend at school parties, the friend you hang out with after a stressful shift, or the best friend you backpack with for six months. But once this phase is over, you usually won't hear from them again.

While these signs are great at meeting new people, they are also attracted to the next stage in their lives, whether that's a new job, city, or hobby. They make friends along the way but are not very good at keeping in touch.

If you want a long-term best friend, look to a water sign, an earth sign, or everyone's favorite air sign - Libra. According to Wang, the following three zodiac signs generally prefer short and exciting friendships.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

"Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, and is known for being adaptable and changing interests," says Wang. Combined with the fact that they are an air sign, this explains why they are constantly drifting from one thing to the next.

When Geminis aren't making new friends in pottery class, they're making friends at the gym, coffee shop, or rock climbing wall. If you name their hobby, chances are they've already tried it, and they've probably made a million friends in the process.

Wang said Geminis like to try new things, and they are also social butterflies. They talk easily to strangers, and they will connect with anyone who will listen. Give them five minutes and they'll let you add them on Instagram, and that's it, you'll become good friends.

While Geminis connect easily, many of their friendships are as short-lived as their attention spans. It won't be long before they're attracted to a shiny new group of friends, Wang says, and the cycle repeats itself.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)

"Sagittarius is the wanderer of the zodiac," Wang said. "Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, Sagittarius is naturally curious and craves new experiences."

This fire sign has so many interests that it's hard for them to sit still. When they're not changing jobs or following new passions, they're jetting off to faraway countries or driving five states away.

"They tend to form friendships that are situational and time-limited, like becoming close friends just for a summer or while working on a specific project," he said. If you met a best friend at a seasonal job or randomly met a travel buddy in Europe, chances are they're a Sagittarius.

That said, even though their friendship was short-lived, that doesn't mean they weren't important. "Sagittarius cherishes the memories they create with friends," he says, "but they're always ready to move on to the next big adventure." If they stay in touch, postcards will be sent once a year from their nearest destination.

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)

"Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, a planet of sudden change and originality," Wang said. "Aquarians are known for their progressive thinking and love of innovation, and they are constantly seeking new ideas and perspectives."

They tend to make friends through shared intellectual interests, which means they will develop strong bonds with colleagues or classmates in college. But as this air sign progresses, they often shed old relationships and find new ones, often by changing careers, moving, or attending graduate school.

"Aquarians are also known for their humanitarian spirit, [so they are] involved in various social causes," he says. "Their need for continued growth may result in short-lived friendships, as they may quickly move on to new careers and networks."

In other words, an Aquarius will be the best friend you've ever had, but only in Victorian literature classes, election cycles, or the dog shelter where you both volunteer. You stay very close for a few months and then— poof —you never see or hear from them again.
