What is Beyonce's new song about?

Some hearts were broken when it was revealed that Beyoncé's second surprise album was just Beyoncé's platinum version . However, it's not all bad news - we're still getting new music from Queen Bee. While there are only two new tracks (more on that later), the four-disc Platinum Edition box set (available November 24) includes remixes from Jay Z, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and more. In addition, there are 28 music videos and clips from the Mrs. Carter World Tour and On The Run Tour. Wow.

But the most important part of this new release is the addition of "7/11" and "Ring Off," two mysterious new tracks that Bay added to the album. On the surface, they might just be about loving 7-Eleven Slurpees and taking off your wedding rings, but knowing Beyoncé, they're much more than that. After some careful investigation, I came up with some decodings of these two tracks. Yes, both articles could be about Jay Z, and one of them could mention breakup rumors. But hey, this amazing artist is shocking the world with a new album, so she might have a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to lyrics, too.

  • "Drunk Love" mentions 7-11, and most people are talking about 7-11's business hours. I wouldn't put words in her mouth, so the lyrics go like this: "My body has no complaints, so fluorescent in these lights/Boy, I'm drinking/Park it in my 7-11 parking lot/ I wipe, wipe, wipe/If you’re scared, call the priest.”
  • July 11th and 12th are the only New York-area dates for the summer On the Run tour, so there may be something going on there. They spent those two nights in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
  • We can't deny that Blue Ivy might just love Slurpees, and Beyoncé just had to write an entire song about it.

  • First, think positive, what if this was because her ring fell off at the Met Gala and Jay Z pretended to re-propose? That would be cute.
  • However, given the rumors that Beyoncé and Jay Z are splitting up, this could be a divorce settlement. This is probably one of the biggest things, or specifically about her reported removal of her IV tattoo, which she wore as a wedding ring on her ring finger.
  • Speaking of which, Jay Z's "Part 2 (On the Run)" directly says "things Rings off" and mentions their tattoos. Could this be her follow-up song? "Matching tattoos, this ink won't come off / Even if the ring comes off / If the bell rings."
