Revisit BSB’s “Everybody” Video

It seems like just yesterday that I was listening to the Backstreet Boys' hit song "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" for the 500th time. Actually, that song didn't come out yesterday, but it was 1997 and, oh my god, I feel really old now. My fleeting youth aside, the hit single remains a regular on our respective iTunes feeds, and the music video for the song is almost better than the song itself.

For the "Everybody" video, BSB decided to go the cinematic route, releasing a six-minute video for the song, which features our favorite fivesome spending the night in a creepy haunted house after their tour bus breaks down. As you may recall, the horror-themed video showed each BSB member as a different type of monster, with BSB's staple dance moves interspersed throughout the video, with Nick Carter's bowl cut being particularly fitting for Fleck. However, in my recent re-watching of music videos (sidebar: research doesn't get any better than this), I noticed countless iconic moments that I had completely forgotten about. Apparently Howie Dorough - or Howie D as he's often called - did a celebratory vampire dance, the mansion had a serious rodent problem, and Kevin Richardson plays it cool after transforming into a scaly monster.

The above are just a few of the things I noticed that are worth screaming about. Without further ado, let’s take a trip down a road marked “Nostalgia” and take a look at 13 moments in “Everyone (Back Street)” that you may have forgotten.

1. The angry bus driver

The video opens with everyone at BSB basically losing their minds because their bus broke down and will likely miss their next concert. Amid their noisy whining, the bus driver instructs the boys to stop moaning and basically calm down.

2. BSB is no longer a monster during main dance breaks

It doesn't take long before each member of BSB transforms into some kind of horrific creature - so why do they all look 100% human in the ballroom dancing sequence? Then again, the dance moves are so enjoyable that you don't really care about the plot holes.

3. Brian Littrell hates his bedroom

Surrounded by cobwebs and taxidermy, it's no surprise that Littrell was spotted making a stink face.

4. This “Ballroom Dance” Announcement

Although we initially believed the creepy haunted house was abandoned, someone was clearly running the place — or at least the PR side of things — as evidenced by the "Ballroom Dancing" notice posted on the door.

5. The woman who thinks Doro is so delicious that it makes you lick your fingers

The woman was very excited about Doro coming out of the coffin.

6. The house has a serious rodent problem

When AJ McLean sang among a pile of food, he didn't even seem to notice the giant rat problem happening right in front of him. Luckily he was too busy singing to eat the filthy buffet.

7. Richardson is completely indifferent to becoming a monster

He couldn't be more calm. Then again, Richardson has always been the strong, silent type of the team, IMHO.

8. Littrell sings with these giant fangs

That seems difficult.

9. Doro was angered and turned into a vampire

He even had a celebratory dance when he first came out of the coffin.

10. Doro also stopped biting and sang "Yeah"

The bloodthirsty Dorov showed his commitment to the music by stopping midway through to sing "yeah" with the rest of BSB.

11. Littrell did a series of somersaults

After turning into a werewolf, Littrell began to go crazy . He walked through the halls, across the halls, and even passed Richardson at one point. look?

12. These bats fly out of Doro's jacket

oops!

13. Was the whole thing a dream...or was it? !

At the end of the video, each BSB member reunites in their normal state, wearing the same outfits as at the beginning. Each of them swapped stories about "psychedelic" dreams they'd had the night before, leading us to believe that the entire musical event was just playing out in their heads. But wait! Just as the boys were about to get off the bus, the angry bus driver from the beginning came back with cuts on his face and on the steering wheel (I guess it fell off??), his voice carrying a demonic rhythm, Smiling maniacally and saying, "Let's go." Every member of BSB was screaming.

Do you feel reacquainted with this epic music video? If not, re-watch "Everyone (Back Street)" below. Heck, just watch it anyway - I know I'm about to. Nostalgic #FTW – right?
