This is the correct way to delete Tinder

After the 100th dead-end conversation about tacos and The Office , you might want to take a break from dating apps. But if you're already in a relationship with your new crush, or want to focus on meeting someone offline, you might consider officially cutting ties with Tinder. However, since there are a bunch of settings tabs, you might be confused about how to actually delete your Tinder account. Whether you want to hide it, pause it, or delete it entirely, you have options when it comes to getting rid of your Tinder.

How to hide your profile from other users

If you don't want to be visible to new people in your card pile, or if you just want to keep talking to your current matches without the chance to make new ones, "hide" your profile may be your best option. However, there is a way to make a new match if someone you already like sees your profile and likes you. To select this option, open the Tinder app, go to Settings, and scroll through the preferences for distance and age. Below that, you'll see a section labeled "Show on Tinder." Turn it off and you won't be showing it to anyone new.

How to suspend your Tinder account

If you want to stop using Tinder but don't want to lose all your matches, or you know you'll eventually want to return to your page, you can pause your account. Pausing means you've logged out of Tinder and you won't show up in the stack of cards, but when you choose to log back in, your account will be restored immediately along with your photos, bio, and matches. To suspend your account, open Tinder and click Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see "Log Out" and "Delete" above and below the Tinder logo. Select "Delete" and a screen will appear prompting you to "suspend" your account. Click on it and you're good to go.

What happens to my account if I delete the app from my phone?

If you've found someone you watch Love Island and eat Thai food with, then you're ready to delete Tinder entirely. Unfortunately, simply deleting the app won't take you off the grid. If you just delete the app from your phone, your Tinder profile will still be out there. In other words, even if you're not using the app, others can still see your profile, swipe on you, and tell your monogamous partner that they found you in the swipe area.

What happens if I "quit" Tinder?

If you don't have enough options, there's also a "logout" feature, which is different from pause and delete. When you "log out" of Tinder, your account will be logged out on your phone but will still cycle through the last location you swiped into. The "Logout" option is located at the bottom of the settings just above "Delete." Before logging out, you can select "Remember me on this device" so that you can log in in one step the next time you log in on the same phone, or you can select "Forget me on this device" so you can log in on the same phone Log in. You must log in again using your password.

How to actually delete your Tinder account

So you're ready to delete your account completely - without any suspension or logout, you want your entire profile gone. If you want to delete your profile, open the app and go to Settings. Scroll down to "Delete" and press "Delete my account." You need to give a reason - "I don't like Tinder", "I met someone" or "I want a fresh start" etc. After selecting a reason, you'll be asked again if you'd like to "Delete" it or just "Pause" it. Once you select "Delete," you will receive a confirmation notification, your account will disappear, and you will be logged out of the app once and for all.
