There are so many things to love about living alone. There's peace and quiet, endless girls' dinners, and you don't have to answer to anyone, except maybe your cat. These are just some of the perks that inspire certain zodiac signs to earn a spot of their own.
According to astrologer Stina Garbis, signs that prefer to live alone tend to be the most individualistic members of the zodiac. After all, it does take some gumption to run your own house, watch your own pets, and get 100% of your chores done without the help of roommates, partners, or parents.
This may sound difficult, but for many zodiac signs, it's actually their favorite reason for living alone. While others enjoy a loud house or a partner's presence, these signs thrive when they create their own sanctuary, decorate it to their heart's content, and stretch out in their own bed.
They don’t want the drama, crowding, or compromise that comes with shared space. Garbis says this desire often stems from the sign's ruler, which may lead them to value things like privacy, solitude, freedom and comfort.
According to astrologers, here are the zodiac signs that prefer to live alone.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
As a fire sign ruled by Mars and the first sign of the year, Aries feels best when they are wild, independent, and free.
They love dancing alone in the living room, returning to an empty house, and dealing with all the ups and downs of life alone. They've never encountered a piece of IKEA furniture that they couldn't assemble alone, or a dripping sink that they couldn't repair on their own.
They also like to stick to their own schedule, whether that means staying up late or sleeping until noon, Garbis said. They don't like to be interrupted or told what to do. If they have roommates, they will feel lively and nervous, which is why they are willing to spend extra money to enjoy their own space.
While they may ultimately decide to move in with a partner, most Aries thrive when alone, and many don't have a choice, Garbis says.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Taurus is more than happy to live alone, especially since it means they can do all the decorating. This sign is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and luxury, so they have very strong opinions when it comes to interior design.
The thought of arguing with their partner about paint colors or knick-knacks can send shivers down their spines, which is why they always want their own space. They'll pull strings, get a second job, or downsize just to make sure they have that option, although Garbis says many Taurus have money to spare.
According to Gabis, earth signs also value independence, but unlike Capricorn and Virgo who are willing to share space, Taurus prefers to receive guests for a short period of time and then kick them out at a reasonable time.
Once they've had some social interaction, they lock the door securely, retire to their richly decorated living room, and cuddle up on the couch to watch whatever they want on Netflix.
Scorpio (October 23rd - November 21st)
If anyone can enjoy the peace that comes with owning an entire apartment, it's a Scorpio. As an introverted water sign, Scorpios like to completely shut down at the end of the day, which they find difficult when they share a kitchen with roommates or a bed with a partner.
"They want to be able to go home, close the door, draw the curtains and put on some moody music," Garbis said. Like a little scorpion hiding under a rock, this sign loves to have their own safe space where they can truly be themselves.
Scorpio also has many characteristics associated with Pluto, the distant celestial body that rules Scorpio. Pluto exudes an air of independence and also represents transformation, which is one of Scorpio's favorite topics.
According to Garbis, living alone is one of the best ways for Scorpios to figure themselves out without anyone interrupting or getting in the way.
