Miley Cyrus might be taking it back to the good old days. On August 14, fans spotted a mysterious Cyrus poster in France, suggesting that new music from the "Flowers" singer may be on the way. The new poster includes a new black-and-white image and lyrics from her iconic hits "Party in the USA," "Wrecking Ball" and "The Climb," as well as a new lyric: "I said I was young." If fan theories are correct, Cyrus will be releasing a new single titled "Used To Be Young" soon — but there may be more to come.
Cyrus first teased "Used To Be Young" (assuming that's the real title) in a May 2023 interview with British Vogue , explaining that she was writing about "Used To Be Young" after receiving another one she couldn't understand. The song was inspired by the song provided by the songwriter. "It was like, you know, the standards on the club circuit were screwed up," she recalled. "I was like, 'I've been sober for two years. You know, that's not where I spend my time. You're more likely to see me and my friends actually walking through the rose garden or going to a museum.'" Then she recited New lyrics, "I know I used to be crazy/I know I used to be funny/You said I used to be wild/I said I used to be young," adding that she hopes to release the song "soon."
Additionally, Cyrus announced the release of the Bangerz 10th anniversary vinyl album on August 7, which is now available for pre-order on her website. On her merch store, the LP's description teases "a look back at Miley's youth," with the words in capital letters denoting a new single title.
While these hits are enough to warrant a new song called "Used To Be Young," it could also be the start of another new album. Fans have been speculating that Cyrus was planning to release "Volume Two" of her latest album , Endless Summer , which was released in March, after her sister Brandi commented on the album on her "Your Favorite Things" podcast There are some songs on it that fans haven't heard yet. "My favorite song isn't actually here, it's going to be released later, so we'll save it," she told her co-host Wells Adams. Given that it's called "The Endless Summer Vacation," the sequel will prove that it really doesn't have an ending.
Some fans also believe a world tour may be coming, considering how the posters were first spotted in France, where Cyrus hasn't performed in nearly a decade, and preview two classic hits. This possibility is unlikely, as Cyrus also told British Vogue that she has no current desire to tour. “Singing for hundreds of thousands of people is not really my thing,” she said. "There's no connection. There's no security."
However, even Cyrus admitted that she often changes her mind and may change her mind again while on tour, as she wrote in a letter to fans after the interview. "This is not the best thing for me right now and if you have been following my career you know that I am always changing and how I feel about it may change as well," she wrote.
