Tomorrow X Together's new collaboration with the Jonas Brothers

Growing up, HueningKai, now a member of K-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT), couldn't have imagined that he would one day release a song with his three musical heroes. " Camp Rock was one of my favorite movies when I was younger," Hueningkai tells Bustle about the Disney Channel classic, which memorably starred the Jonas Brothers as a trio of musicians. and reluctant summer camp attendees. "I was watching and dreaming of becoming a singer." But thanks to TXT's new collaboration with Jo Bros, HueningKai has achieved that goal.

When the members of TXT — Soobin, HueningKai, Taehyun, Yeonjun, and Beomgyu — heard the first demo of “Do It Like That,” they immediately thought of contacting the Jonas Brothers. “We felt like the Jonas Brothers and their smooth vocals would be the icing on the cake, complementing the fun and light-hearted vibe of the song,” Taehyun said. Thankfully, according to Soobin, the American band was "very supportive" of the collaboration, and the two bands eventually met in New York in May. Yeonjun admits he's a bit starstruck: "I listen to a lot of their music, so seeing them in person was a surreal experience for me."

After weeks of teasing the song on social media and working together to recreate the viral TikTok video, the groups finally released "Do It Like That" on July 7. This is a pop. This groovy, upbeat track captures the upbeat, pop sensibilities of both bands and effortlessly harmonizes their smooth falsetto vocals. Meanwhile, the stripped-down video shows both bands wearing retro-style suits and dancing to the song. This is the funniest thing I’ve had in a music video in a while,” Beomgyu said.

Considering the sincerity of both bands, it's no surprise that this single is ready to become a summer anthem. The Jonas Brothers have been involved in pop music on and off since 2005, with 26 songs on the Billboard 100 chart. After debuting in 2019, TXT quickly became one of the biggest fourth-generation K-pop groups in the world, capturing the hearts of Generation Z in particular. (The band has amassed more than 20 million followers on TikTok and 14 followers on Instagram, and their 2022 EP "Thursday's Child" even debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart.) )

The collaboration marks another milestone in the K-pop quintet's already impressive growth. Since their debut full-length studio album , The Dream Chapter: Magic , TXT have branched out into different genres, constantly challenging themselves musically. Taehyun pointed to the song "Tinnitus (Wanna be a rock)" from their fifth Korean EP , The Name Chapter: Temptation , as an example of the group's willingness to step out of their comfort zone. The single "features a genre and a certain tempo that we haven't tried yet, so I think it portrays our artistic growth and versatility," he said.

Through their world tour "ACT: Sweet Phantom", Work on TXT has been well underway since it began in March, and there is still a lot to look forward to in TXT this summer. At the end of the month, the band will release a documentary called Tomorrow Beomgyu is already looking forward to how fans of the group, known as "MOA," will "dance and enjoy with us" at the Chicago Music Festival.
