Composer MM Keeravaani came on stage to receive the award. He said he intended not to follow "ancient convention", saying the award belonged to someone else but him, but he couldn't resist and credited the song's success to several people, including his brother and RRR director SS Rajamouli.
“I didn’t expect the song to have the response it did, even in my dreams,” Kilavani recently told Variety . "But as an oxymoron, it's a dream come true." However, he's not the only one pleasantly surprised by the success of "Naatu Naatu." Variety writes that the song is an underdog in the race for the 2023 Golden Globes, and according to the film's distributor Pen Studios, it is the first Asian song to win the Golden Globe for Best Original Song.
