Billie Eilish isn't rejecting those who call her a fashion hit

Billie Eilish has some critical words for "idiots" criticizing her for rocking her so-called new look. In a series of Instagram Stories on May 27, the "Happier Than Ever" singer addressed "some of the comments" she's seen that incorrectly attribute her changing style to her giving in due to assumed industry pressures.

Eilish wrote: “I spent the first five years of my career being completely written off by you fools because I acted like a boy, dressed like me, and was constantly told that if I acted like a woman, I'll be sexier." Entertainment Tonight . "Now when I feel comfortable enough to wear anything remotely feminine or flirty, I've changed and I've become a betrayer... 'What happened to her' OMG it's not the same than Leigh, she's just like everyone else, etc."

Calling the haters "real idiots," she said, "I could be you two fucking idiots. Let women exist!" In a follow-up post, the seven-time Grammy winner added: "Fun fact ! You know, women are multi-faceted! ! Shocking, believe it or not, the title of the third story is: " Doesn’t mean it’s weak! ! Oh my god?! Who knows? It’s totally unheard of and crazy.”

Before finally spitting out her draw, Eilish's closing words were: "Suck my absolute dick and get the hell out of you ass hating weirdo women."‌

After Eilish stepped out on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet on May 1 in a burlesque custom black lace Simone Rocha look, the Irish designer explained that the vibe of musicians is her biggest influence. "I was inspired by Billie herself, her talent, her world and her strong femininity," Rocha said of Eilish's gothic look, which also included an Agent Provocateur corset underneath a sheer gown. "I wanted to celebrate her femininity through fragility and strength. Using fragile tulle and trimming it with lace, interpreting the embellishment as armor, created a look that reflected emotion. This is a very layered piece that reveals What lies beneath..."

In an October 2021 Elle cover story, Eilish recalled that when she began trying out her signature oversized streetwear, skater-goth aesthetic for something more form-fitting, fans were quick to backlash . (The magazine cited comments from internet trolls who accused the singer of being "dishonest" and "mean asf" for wearing a corset with her lace bra exposed.) "People hold on to these memories and have an attachment . . . but it’s very dehumanizing,” she told the magazine. "I lost 100,000 followers just because of boobs. People are afraid of big boobs. ... You shouldn't even really know who you are until you're at least my age or older."

Eilish continued, "My goal is not 'This is going to make everyone think differently about me.'" Everything I've ever done has had a different color hair and vibe. …One day I posted a video of me when I had green hair, and I saw people saying, “I miss this Billy, green-haired Billy.” I’m still the same person. I'm not just a different Barbie doll with a different head. "
