Taylor Swift's '1989' (Taylor's Version) is finally out, and with the re-recorded 1989 hit that fans know and love, Swift has been busy playing the album's new "From The Vault" ” Tracks: “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legend,” “Is It Over Now,” and “Slut!” 》
However, within hours of its 1989 (TV) release, one Vault song, "Say Don't Go," became an apparent fan favorite.
Swift co-wrote the song with noted songwriter Diane Warren during its original writing process in 1989 . After hearing the lyrics, fans speculated that the song might be about Swift's ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, whom she dated from 2012 to 2013.
Much to the dismay of the Swifties, who have known about the song's existence for years, "Say Don't Go" never materialized until now.
Fans Like "Say Don't Go"
Sharing their first reactions to Swift's latest batch of Vault songs, fans expressed skepticism about her decision not to include the "god" song on the original 1989 album.
"Oh this is pop! Girl why is this in the damn vault! This should be out already!" one Swiftie expressed interest in X (formerly known as Twitter).
"'Say Don't Go (Taylor's Version)' being left in the vault for almost a decade is one of the craziest things Taylor Swift has ever done," another fan commented. One of the best vault pieces.”
Meanwhile, others called on Swift to declare the song the official (TV) single of 1989 . "This song needs to be the next single," one fan wrote. "Let this happen, girl shock everyone."
"Say Don't Go" tops the charts
Hours after the song was released, Swiftis was quick to point out that "Say Don't Go" went straight to the top of the U.S. iTunes chart, her 64th number-one song.
This latest chart statistic comes as no surprise to fans, who have long dubbed Swift "Taylor the Chart Killer."
