At the start of Love Is Blind season 6, Brittany Mills and Kenneth Gorham bonded in the pod while opening up about their shared religious values and family history. But when they returned home to Charlotte, North Carolina, the engaged couple's enthusiasm began to cool.
Noticing his "withdrawn moments," Brittany told Kenneth that she felt more "distant" since their pod vacation. "We barely kissed or made out. For some reason, that was really awkward for me," she said.
Ultimately, the two decided to go their separate ways in the latest batch of episodes, which aired on February 21. “I remain your biggest supporter and believer,” Kenneth said. "But I also love myself too much and have overcome so much just to force something."
Although their split was amicable, Brittany is now debunking viewers' theories about their split - like the suggestion that Kenneth's use of a phone was to blame.
"It has absolutely nothing to do with it," Brittany told Entertainment Weekly, adding that her ex-fiancé's phone time showed his dedication to his job as principal. "It became important to me because I was his partner and was his partner through this whole experience," she said. "I've never had a problem that worried me."
Kenneth said on the show that he "missed" his phone in the pod. As Brittany opened their new apartment, he started getting back to work emails. "So the busyness never stops?" she asked at the time.
To clarify the facts
Several viewers on X (formerly Twitter) pointed to Kenneth's cell phone use as a potential factor in his breakup with Brittany. "As soon as he got his phone back, it was checked," one user wrote, while another said Kenneth was on the phone the whole time when Brittany tried to talk to him, which was so " It’s disgusting.”
However, Brittany said she "in no way" feels like she's competing with his phone. She said the real reason for the breakup was as shown on the show.
"The passion, the desire, isn't necessarily as strong as it is in the pod," she told Entertainment Weekly . "I never wanted to be super reactive right away because I wanted it so bad...[but] then I was able to really accept myself and accept him."
