May feels familiar on Hulu: One of the big releases earlier this month was the premiere (May 3) of the third season of the Emmy-winning documentary series Welcome to Wrexham , originally scheduled for April roll out. The series follows the behind-the-scenes story of the Welsh professional football club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, which recently gained promotion for a second time following a winning streak.
Other documentary highlights include "The Contestant" (May 2), which tells the story of a man trapped in a small room whose life was broadcast on Japanese national television for more than 15 months; and "Black Twitter: A People's History" (May 9), a three-parter - series based in part on Jason Parham's Wired article about the impact of black Twitter on American politics and culture .
For a literary drama, watch the first season of Shardlake (May 1), a Hulu original based on CJ Sansom’s Tudor mystery set in 16th-century England. background; or The Killing Kind (May 14), a thriller based on the Jane Casey book of the same name.
Finally, for those who enjoy game shows and/or reality TV, there’s the Season 5 premiere of The Kardashians (May 23), the Season 2 premiere of Jeopardy! Series premieres of Masters (May 2) and The Quiz with Balls (May 29), a high-stakes quiz show hosted by actor and comedian Jay Pharoah.
