Like star Karen Pittman leaving the show after two seasons

Another one is like this... The newcomers will leave the original Sex and the City quartet behind. Karen Pittman debuted as Dr. Nya Wallace when the sequel series premiered in December 2021, but she won't be returning for season three. A spokesperson for Max told Deadline that she will continue to star due to "commitments to two additional streaming series."

complete timetable

When Pittman joined And Just Like That , she already had a starring role on Apple TV+'s The Morning Show . She remains a series regular and was recently announced to star in Netflix's Forever . Since both projects are ongoing, she is unable to return to AJTL .

"It's a pleasure to have Karen Pittman play the brilliant and amazing Professor Nia Wallace in the first two seasons of Just So... ," Marks wrote in a statement. "We absolutely loved working with this dynamic actress, and so did everyone else. With her being involved in two other anchor series, it became clear that filming three series at the same time was not going to be possible."

The statement further explained that "scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue playing the character for another season." "We will miss Karen and Nia, and her Max family and fans will cheer her on in her other endeavors," it added.

new horizons

Over the course of two seasons on AJTL , Nia had to adjust to single life after splitting from her husband Andre (Leroy McClain). The Season 2 finale set her up with a new potential romance with a famous chef, but it doesn't look like fans will see that storyline unfold unless it returns in the future. For now, Pittman is excited about her role in "Forever."

I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Lovie [Simone], Michael [Cooper Jr.], Wood [Harris] and the entire production team on @netflix’s new series Forever, starring my long-time friend the brilliant [Mara ] Written and produced by Brock Akil], she wrote on Instagram on March 7.

Netflix's "Forever" series is adapted from the 1975 Judy Blume novel of the same name and centers on two black teenagers Kesha (Simone) and Justin (Little Cooper) and their love story. Pittman will play Dawn, Justin's strict but loving mother. Harris plays Dawn's husband Eric, the milder of the two parents.

The future of AJTL

Without Pittman, AJTL will lose another newcomer. Variety reports that Sara Ramirez, who also stars in the spinoff as controversial character Che Diaz, will not be returning either. Sources told the outlet in February that Che's storyline was over. The returning cast will reportedly regroup soon to begin filming Season 3. Nicole Ali Parker (Lisa Todd Wexley) told Entertainment Tonight in a February interview that they were "back to work in May."
