If you're playing a game on PS5 but can't beat a particularly challenging boss or figure out how to solve a certain puzzle, you'll soon be able to get help from anonymous strangers. Sony has announced that later this year, your PS5 will be able to automatically capture gameplay clips during gameplay and upload them as prompts for other players, and clips taken by other players can also be used for your reference. This new feature is called Community Game Help, and you have to opt in, and it provides a fun way to get help with your game without having to find online walkthroughs.
How to contribute to PS5 Community Gaming Help
In the coming months, you'll be able to opt-in to Community Game Help, which means your gameplay videos will help others. Once this feature rolls out to your PS5, you can go to PS5 Settings > Capture & Broadcast > Capture > Auto Capture > Community Game Help > Participate . This will allow you to opt into the program.
According to Sony, this settings page also lets you choose how much video you want the console to capture each month. When you perform certain actions in supported games, your PS5 automatically captures these videos and uploads them to Sony's servers. Once your video is uploaded, moderators will review your content and decide if it can be published with the help of Community Games. If your video is published, you will receive a notification on PS5 and it will appear under the "Videos you published" option on the Community Game Help settings page.
Sony says these clips will be automatically deleted from your PS5 once they're uploaded, meaning you don't have to worry about running out of storage space. The company also addressed other privacy concerns by confirming that only original gameplay footage will be uploaded. Sony does not access your webcam feed, group chat audio, or audio from your microphone. According to Sony, the feature will be "rolling out in select games later this year, with the goal of expanding it to as many games as possible in the future."
How to use Community Game Help on PS5
Community Game Help is being rolled out slowly at the moment, so it may take a while to appear on your PS5. To check if you've earned it, you can tap the PS button while playing the game, select the card labeled "Insider Tips," and then select any video under "Community Game Help." This will also be available on the PS app.
