Prince William and Kate Middleton continue royal birthday tradition

Prince William and Kate Middleton continue a long tradition of celebrating Princess Charlotte. On May 2, the couple shared a new photo of their 9-year-old daughter to celebrate her birthday.

The newly released photo, taken by the Princess of Wales in Windsor, shows a smiling Charlotte posing next to some flowers and bushes. "Happy 9th Birthday Princess Charlotte! Thank you for all your kind messages today," the couple wrote in the caption.

Sharing unseen photos to mark their children's birthdays has become a common practice for the Kensington family. William and Middleton posted a new photo of their youngest son, Prince Louis, on Instagram on April 23 to mark his sixth birthday.

Middleton often takes these photos, but for Prince George's 10th birthday in July 2023, his portrait was instead taken by photographer Millie Pilkington.

On April 26, ahead of Charlotte's ninth birthday, Prince William revealed the young royal's favorite joke during a visit to a school in England's West Midlands.

"Knock on the door," said the prince, and the students asked, "Who's there?" When William answered, "Knock on the cow," the students asked, "Who is on the cow?" - and he responded with a quip. : "Mooo."

Charlotte and Prince Louis' birthdays aren't the only family milestones William and Middleton have celebrated recently. On April 29, the couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary by posting a purportedly never-before-seen photo from their 2011 wedding.
