"Gilmore Girls" is a perennial fall show that reruns. But this time of year, it's always fun to relive the spring break adventures of Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Paris (Lisa Weir). The fourth season of "Girls in Bikinis, Boys in Bikini" (which turns 20 this year) depicts the friends' serious attempt to spend spring break the way they think it should be: on a trip to a beach town in Florida, where Already packed with noisy, partying peers.
Going her own way, Paris deftly planned a functional beach day - paying resort staff to put up a tent, provide tables and chairs, and keep the ice tea flowing. (Honestly...she would make a great vacation friend.) She also reminded the girls' other roommate, Janet, to slather on sunscreen. "Have you used sun protection? Ten minutes of exposure to the sun will cause irreparable skin damage."
"Constant shoulder tension can lead to a hunched back," says Janet.
"Well, go ahead, I heard there's a big melanoma epidemic this year," Paris replied.
The film's delivery is very Parisian, but all these years later, the line stands out for its connection to another Lisa Ware character.
Unexpected foreshadowing
In the Grey's Anatomy Season 5 episode "Going to the Future," Izzy Stevens is deciding whether to have brain surgery for metastatic melanoma. She consults with Alison, played by Ware, a cancer patient whose diagnosis appears to be the same as that of Izzy (Katherine Heigl).
"One moment, I was a college student, rowing team, being an idiot, forgetting my sunscreen and thinking it didn't matter. Because I was who I was and life was going very well for me," Allison recalled of her pre-illness days. Life.
Unfortunately, Alison dies in the same episode, a loss that inspires Izzy to undergo dangerous but life-saving surgery.
Sundaran trip
If you're a long-time fan of Shonda Rhimes' work, you probably know that Ware's guest appearance on Grey's Anatomy wasn't her only foray into Shondaland. She told Nylon that the "Gilmore Girls" alum was personally invited by Rhimes to audition for "Grey's Anatomy," and landed the role before appearing on "Private Practice" and "Scandal." In 2014, she played the lead role in How to Get Away with Murder .
"I'm always given something completely different to do, which is a huge testament to Shonda," Ware once told The Hollywood Reporter. "She has a stable of people that she uses over and over again, and she never limits you as an actor. You stay in her head and she gives you something completely different than the last time you played."
Several of Weir's "Gilmore Girls" stars also had memorable experiences on "Grey's Anatomy," including Edward Herrmann and Vanessa Marano.
