Sabrina Carpenter landed a coveted musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live 's May 18 season finale, performing her summer anthem "Espresso." Before taking the stage, the first-time SNL actor arrived at the NBC studios of 30 Rock wearing a head-to-toe Miu Miu ensemble that was more Gossip Girl than pop princess.
The look is from the brand's Spring 2024 collection (which has been worn by other stars), which taps into one of summer's biggest trends: geek chic, the perfect mix of bookish and bad*ch.
Miu Miu styling by Carpenter
The Gen Z style icon perfectly balanced nerdiness and playfulness by pairing a navy cropped polo with a barely-there white miniskirt. The drawstrings of the skirt cinched underneath a pair of navy briefs. (For 2022, Miu Miu is launching several low-rise miniskirts designed to expose the waistband of boxer shorts.)
She continued the preppy vibe by wearing white tube socks with ultra-high strappy platform sandals and a pair of tortoiseshell glasses that reminded her of a sexy librarian. For added glamor, she carried a coveted vintage Hermès Kelly bag (the only non-Miu Miu piece in her outfit).
The final look was filled with filled brows and heavy rosy blush. Avant-garde clothing pushes the envelope while retaining design elements of private school uniforms.
The evolution of carpentry style
Lately, Carpenter has been showing off her fashion chops, rocking her signature sparkly mini dress and platform boots. For her Coachella debut in April, she performed in a series of designer looks, including rhinestone bras by Roberto Cavalli.
On May 6, she made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala wearing an Oscar De La Renta velvet gown paired with a light blue bubble skirt.
Two days later, Marc Jacobs launched its pre-fall 2024 The Sack Bag advertising campaign, in which Carpenter wears a translucent fuchsia jumpsuit and no pants.
In the SNL trailer released on May 16, she looks stunning in a delicate satin organza top by Thom Browne.
Let the light of clothing continue to shine!
