Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds come to terms before tying the knot

Blake Lively has revealed the deal she made with husband Ryan Reynolds before they got married.

The actor discussed the importance of work-life balance during the Feb. 22 episode of Amber Tamblyn's Substack show "Further Ado," and revealed that she and Reynolds agreed to prioritize their relationship over work , Entertainment Tonight reports superior.

"When Ryan and I were together, we made it a rule not to work at the same time so that we could always prioritize our personal lives," Lively said.

She admits that following the rules isn't always easy given their busy schedules. "It takes very hard work when we're not on set, as does financial planning and maintenance. It requires balance."

Recalling her years filming Gossip Girl (2007-2012), Lively added that she was "used to working hard and not stopping." She continued, " Gossip Girl took up six years of my life, We would sometimes shoot three episodes at the same time.”

The two began dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of "Green Lantern." The following year, on September 9, 2012, they tied the knot in South Carolina. They have four children: daughters James, Inez and Betty, and a one-year-old baby.

Reynolds spoke about fatherhood in an October 2023 interview with People , revealing that he and Lively "talk about everything" with their children and teach them the importance of self-awareness.

"When I say I'm very interested in their lives and how things go, I mean it sincerely," he told the outlet. “We’re much better equipped to deal with the rigors of childhood through our kids now than we were when I was a kid. … People are much more self-aware. That’s what we value most, our self-awareness with our kids. Don’t Be happy and don’t be anyone but be self-aware and welcome everything in.”
