Grey's Anatomy fans don't like Monica, Amelia, and Monica. Winston's love triangle

With just one episode left in Grey's Anatomy Season 20, from intern drama to reported departures of several beloved surgeons, some plot twists are inevitable. There’s a lot to keep up with! But even given the unpredictability of life at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, few could have predicted the love triangle between Monica, Amelia and...Winston?

To recap: On the show's May 16 episode, Amelia asked Monica out after sensing a potential connection. However, the new pediatric surgeon declined. "I was going through a very messy divorce and my wife was still in Texas," Monica explained.

But a week later, Monica seemed to be in a different place. After expressing sympathy over her divorce from Winston - who had just finalized his divorce from Maggie - the unlikely duo left the bar and ended up in bed together.

A new love triangle enters the chat room

Viewers were unhappy, to say the least, especially since the new connection put Amelia in a love triangle with her sister's ex-boyfriend. "Monica and Winston?????? What in the world is going on," one shocked fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Monica and Winston are not happening," another declared, adding that they hoped it was just a one-time thing. "If they become a couple, I'll stop watching."

"They are going to put Amelia and her ex-brother-in-law into a love triangle, this show is so unserious," one fan wrote. In fact, thinking about how Amelia would react to such a twist — especially given her troubled past with Winston — made one user "very sad."

However, there may be a glimmer of hope. As one fan speculated, Winston could be the "bounce" Monica needs to "feel ready to have a proper relationship with Amelia."

"Grey's Anatomy" has done this before

Of course, the halls of Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital are filled with love triangles—and for some reason, those love triangles often involve Amelia: with Link and Kai, with Owen and Teddy, Owen and Link in Chapter Sixteen seasons into becoming the potential father of her child.

While fans wait to see how Amelia reacts to Monica and Winston's budding relationship, Caterina Scorsone (who plays Amelia) revealed to The Hollywood Reporter 20 season finale, describing it as "a year of existential suspense." inauspicious!

The long-time " Grey's Anatomy" star (and "Private Practice" alum) also opened up about her tenure on the series and why she plans to continue. “If the story you’re obsessed with is a story of human beings navigating an ever-changing environment, that story will never get old…so as long as we can remain determined and interested enough to actually discover something new In that moment, as long as they can be here, we can be here," she said.
