It's just over a week since the 2024 Met Gala, and you've had some time to think about your favorite celebrity looks. Which designer duo is your frontrunner? Maybe it's Zendaya's multiple applause-worthy outfit changes, or Doja Cat's wet T-shirt dress.
Or maybe Kim Kardashian's haute cardigan and matching bustier are still free in your head (you're not alone). If so, take a moment to admire her latest bustier look, because this time, she's swapping out the controversial knitwear for plenty of leather.
Kim's leather look
Although Kardashian has kept a surprisingly low profile since making headlines on the first Monday in May, she has been quite active on Instagram. Her photo captured the fashion muse lounging on a bed on her private jet (casual), with the aforementioned leather pairing on full display.
While Kardashian's latest bustier isn't as cinching as her Met outfit, it's certainly slinky considering its strapless silhouette, smooth leather lining, and tiered buckles at the back (more on that later) Not lacking in any sex appeal. The bodice featured a subtle Renaissance cross pattern, confirming it was from Chrome Hearts, one of her favorite designers to wear at red carpet galas.
Compared to the extremely restrictive dress she wore to the "Garden of Time" gala (you know, the one she couldn't wear?), her leather midi dress seems more suitable for movement because she can freely Posing on the bed.
In true Kardashian form, the multi-hyphenate offered multiple angles of her leather duo, including a close-up of the edgy back embellishment. Her strapless top was decorated with intricate buckles from top to bottom, while her skinny midi pants mimicked the laces of a traditional corset.
Kardashian chose not to wear any shoes, but if she didn't, she would likely opt for Balenciaga's ultra-high pointed-toe pumps, which are one of her go-to pieces no matter the occasion. Since then, she's completed her OOTN with plenty of jewelry—a chunky diamond chain choker layered with a cross pendant necklace.
She is a lover of Chrome Hearts
If her latest outfit feels familiar, that's because last November, she attended the 61st Annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards wearing a similar cross-covered leather ensemble, also from Chrome Hearts. She hit the red carpet wearing a backless turtleneck top and matching bodycon maxi skirt.
Later in the evening, after attending a CFDA after-party, Kardashian was photographed by paparazzi wearing the same floor-length skirt, but she swapped the high-neck number for a low-cut lace-up bustier. Similar to the outfit in her private jet photo, she again wore a statement silver chain with a cross-shaped pendant.
While Kourtney is definitely in the midst of a leather-heavy rock and roll era, Kim's luxe leather looks certainly can't be ignored.
