'Bridgerton' Season 3 Part 2 Trailer Teases Lady Whistledown Drama

Bridgerton Season 3 is the show's first two-part series, and its predictably gripping launch has led to unprecedented levels of hype, fan theories, and Easter egg hunts.

Luckily, fans won't have to wait too long to see the rest of Colin and Penelope's love story. Showrunner Jess Brownell previously teased to Bustle that viewers will be entering an "upside-down world" in the second batch of episodes airing on June 13. "If the first part is a romantic comedy, then the second half gets into a very tense place because Penelope as Lady Whistledown has a huge secret that hangs over everything," she said.

In fact, the trailer for the second part of "Bridgerton" season 3 is full of drama .

Colin and Penelope's mirror scene

Part Two appears to begin with Colin and Penelope announcing their engagement after that climactic carriage ride. "I'm so happy for you both," Violet told the couple, and the Bridgerton matriarch was clearly delighted that her gentle push for #Polin paid off.

There's also Colin and Penelope's much-anticipated mirror scene (reader, IYKYK), where the two watch their reflections in a full-length mirror and enjoy an intimate encounter.

However, they did not immerse themselves in pre-marital happiness for too long. Penelope's secret identity is Lady Whistledown, which her former best friend threatens to reveal. "He can't love you unless he knows the real you," Héloïse says in a dramatic scene.

However, based on the trailer, Eloise may never have to reveal her friend's secret gig because Colin is learning about it. "What is all this ink? Do you write?" he asked once, and Penelope panicked and said she had been writing.

Then, there's a moonlit scene that feels like a re-enactment of the moment Colin learns the truth in "Romancing Mr. Bridgerton . " (Mild spoiler: When Colin becomes curious about Penelope riding into town alone in a carriage, Colin follows her and finds her delivering her latest forthcoming Lady Whistledown column. Naturally, a confrontation come behind.)

"Colin, I can take care of myself," Penelope says in the trailer.

"Then what good do I do to you?!" Colin responded, clearly nervous at the prospect of Penelope being put in danger.

Penelope is clearly stunned by the overwhelming response, which may be the hottest moment in the new trailer.

A twist ending?

Speaking of Lady Whistledown, the iconic narrator seems to have given Colin and Penelope's love story a twisty ending.

"While most seasons in our marriage market follow a certain pattern, this season is certainly a surprise," she said.

There's also a scene where Lady Featherington tells Penelope that as a married woman she can't have her own dreams, cutting to Penelope throwing a document (presumably her column) into the fire. Lady Whistledown's fate has never been more certain, but there are plenty of theories as to who might take over the job if Penelope leaves.
