Selena Gomez and her Wizards of Waverly Place family had a magical reunion

The Russell family has done wonders again. With the upcoming sequel to The Wizards , Selena Gomez, David Henry, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise reunited to share a new look with fans Gather photos. The TV family was missing a member, but the debut of the next generation Russell helped make up for it.

The cast reunion photos come just over a week after Deadline reported that Disney has ordered a pilot for a sequel to "The Wizards." Henry and DeLuise shared a photo of the two of them alongside Gomez and Canals-Barreira, with the caption: "The Russo brothers...are back." Together they formed the Disney Channel cast from 2007 to 2012 Four of the five members of the magical family at the center of the sitcom. Three teenage siblings - Justin (Henry), Alex (Gomez) and Max (Jack T. Austin) - raised by parents Jerry (DeLuise) and Teresa (Canals- Under the care of a young man named Barrera, they compete to become the guardians of their family's magical powers while living normal teenage lives.

While some fans noted Austin's absence in the comments and called for his return, many were just happy to see the family reunited. "What a beautiful family photo," one wrote, while another added, "So great to see them all together again!" Others made a point of noting how excited they were to see the sequel series.

Introducing the next generation

A new generation of Russos will take the spotlight in the sequel to "The Wiz." Although Gomez reprises his role as Alex in the pilot and executive produces alongside Henry, Justin and his family are the focus. The pilot will take viewers into his new life as a husband and father, who no longer has the powers of a wizard. As he attempts to live a mortal life with his wife Giada (Mimi Gianopoulos) and two sons (Alcaio Thiele and Max Matenko), a powerful young wizard... Leigh (Janice LeAnn Brown) comes to him for training. .

Henrie introduced the newest member of the Russo family in another Instagram post. He, Gianopulos, Tiller, Matenko and Brown all posed together in a two-photo carousel, with Gomez appearing to try to hug them all in one photo. "The Rosseau family has grown up ;)," Henry wrote.

Tiller also posted photos with his new TV family members on his Instagram Story, which includes one of his own, Matenko and DeLuise. "Hey grandpa," he added in the text message. DeLuise shared this with his own story of being a proud grandfather. "The next generation of Russos is so talented!" he wrote. In other stories, he celebrates "getting the gang back together" and confirms to Henry that he's "ready to work magic again."

As of now, there's no announcement as to when fans will be able to see the pilot for the sequel to "The Wizards." The reboot has been a long time in the making, so hopefully fans will have a little more patience.
