"Voyager" is the latest in a long line of exciting Netflix shows, and its sci-fi elements are enough to attract a lot of viewers. Just utter the words "time travel drama" and you've got me hooked. Featuring an A-list cast, Netflix's Voyager is set in a future civilization that's figuring out how to send their consciousness back in time. Sign me up
I'm sure everyone has thought about what kind of crazy technology will be coming to our planet in the next few hundred years. Is it really that difficult to imagine that we would eventually be able to send our own consciousness/information through time? of course not. The show takes it up a notch by having these "travelers" jump right into people living in the 21st century. Their job is to save humanity from the inevitable chaos of the world.
Canadian TV network Showcase co-produced the show with Netflix, and since the streaming service always does justice to its original series, Travelers is certainly no exception. Now that Netflix has proven itself to be a wizard with original material, big stars are always flocking to be a part of its series.
Eric McCormack as Grant MacLaren
His character Grant MacLaren is the leader of the Travelers team and an FBI agent, because obviously you have to be with a name like that. McCormack is probably best known as Will on "Will & Grace."
Mackenzie Porter as Marcy Walton
Porter's character is listed as "a young intellectually disabled woman in the care of a social worker." Porter is new to show business compared to her peers, but she is an accomplished country musician. She doesn't have many acting credits yet, but I think this will end up being her breakout role.
Patrick Gilmore as David Mellor
Gilmore is known for his small role in "The Cabin in the Woods" and as the cinematographer on "Candy Candy . " In "The Traveler, " David Mellor is Marcy's social worker.
Nesta Cooper as Carly Shannon
In the show, Carly is a single mother in a time traveling group. Star Nesta Cooper is a veteran of the genre. She plays Shay on The CW's The 100 and Dahlia on Heroes Reborn.
Jared Abrahamson as Trevor Holden
Trevor Holden, what a perfect name for the quintessential high school quarterback of this group. According to his IMDB page, star Jared Abrahamson currently has a number of projects in the works, so keep an eye out for his upcoming roles.
Riley Dorman as Philip Pearson
In "The Traveler ," Philip Pearson is a college student addicted to heroin. The actor who plays him, Reilly Dolman, is a busy man, having appeared in "Girls 2," "Leprechaun" and "Scarecrow . " This guy knows how to channel the dark side of his heart (ignore his light side in Girls 2).
I'm super excited to see how this cast of misfit characters manage to travel through time to save humanity. I will definitely check out Travelers when it comes out on Netflix on December 23rd.
