You can take a free trip and strangers on Instagram decide what you do

If you find yourself constantly daydreaming about traveling the world, backpacking through Europe, or soaking up the sun on a beautiful beach in the summer, you're not alone. Having the opportunity to travel the world is an incredible experience – but for most of us, the ultimate dream is to do it all for free. Travel company Busabout wants to give some lucky adventurers the trip of a lifetime through a unique project: The company will hire six people to go on a free trip this summer, with Instagram deciding what you're going to do.

The winner of the Great Travel Experiment will have the opportunity to travel across three continents during the summer of 2019, with each trip lasting between 6 and 11 weeks (22 weeks total, worth $10,500 per trip). Busabout is looking for a total of six content creators - three content creators who enjoy sharing experiences and documenting travels in front of the camera, and three videographers with impressive editing skills who know how to create beautifully shot content . Six winners will be divided into teams with an Instagram content creator and a videographer and will tell the story of their summer travels via social media. Honestly, this sounds like a dream.

But Busabout’s “great travel experiment” is far from your average summer vacation. There's a catch to the experience: Votes from Busabout's Instagram followers will determine which specific activities the winner gets to do on the trip. "From the taste of the ice cream you eat in New York to whether you'll skydive in the Swiss Alps. Our winners must be prepared for it all and ready to embrace travel in the moment," the company explains on the competition page . If you're looking for spontaneity, this is pretty much your dream travel idea.

Destinations for exceptional travel experiences include Asia, Europe and the United States. The trip will begin with a six-week tour of Southeast Asia in May, followed by a six-week coast-to-coast adventure in the United States from California to the South, culminating in an 11-hour trip. A week's worth of travel bucket list for Europe, including cities like Paris, Budapest, and Rome.

So, how to apply? You need to create and upload a 60-second YouTube video showcasing your hometown, and to earn bonus points you can follow @Busabout.Official on Instagram, post this image, and include your favorite destination in the caption. Busabout tells applicants to be sure to include the Great Travel Experiment logo in the video thumbnail, add the #travelexperiment and #busabout tags in the video description, and make your application video visible to the public.

"Be as creative as you can, but remember, we're looking for people who can tell great stories," the company advises. The deadline for applications is April 8, so if you want to give it a try, be sure to start brainstorming ideas for Brainstorm content you submit for YouTube. May the best travel enthusiast win.
