Samsung's Try Galaxy app emulates Z Fold5 folding screen on iPhone

Now you can experience the Galaxy line's foldable screens with an iPhone (or two, if you prefer).

Samsung updated its Try Galaxy app on Monday to encourage iPhone users to emulate the Z Fold5's foldable screen (and One UI 5.1.1) via Apple smartphones.

The latest version of Samsung's Try Galaxy app now lets you experience many One UI 5.1.1 features on non-Android smartphones (iPhone 7 and newer using the latest version of iOS). But if you have two compatible iPhones connected via the Samsung app, you can also emulate the Z Fold5's larger screen and multitasking capabilities.

Once installed on an iPhone, the Try Galaxy app runs through Safari, providing a (sort of) hands-on example of using a Galaxy phone. A variety of default apps and widgets are available, as well as various built-in tutorials in case you're not yet familiar with the platform. While most are non-functional, you can still click through to learn more at your own pace. A series of videos also details the many features of the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold cameras - clicking on various controls opens pop-up descriptors of their tasks. However, you can't actually use the camera.

If you have another iPhone, you can also connect the two in the app (it generates a code from one phone that can be accessed on the other) and try out the "Fold Experience," which uses both iPhones The screen gives you a glimpse of the Z Fold5's larger center screen. It also comes with its own set of introductory videos, but you also get some other foldable screen options, including split-screen multitasking.

You can now download the latest version of the Try Galaxy app for free by visiting the website on your iPhone or scanning the website's QR code. However, if you want to simulate a foldable screen, you'll need to connect a second iPhone.
